from the book of water

I am water
I am blue,
I am green
I am liquid,
I am steam
I am Ice
Too many things
More than what you see
More than what you realize
Many have held me
But just for a while
For no one has kept me
I've slipped through their hands.

--

I am a child, I am crone
A newborn, a corpse
A nun, a man with a gun
A lover, a hater
A poem, a letter
A kiss, a tear
A river, an ocean
Far too loud
To ever be ignored
Far too interesting
To ever be bored
Far too much
To fit in one vessel
Far too elusive
To ever grasp my nature
Far too complex
To understand my essence
Far too much mine
To ever be somebody else’s
