Latest from the Self-Publishing Advice Blog: Amazon Forum

Let’s take a look at this week’s highlights from my other blog, the Alliance of Independent Authors‘s Self-Publishing Advice Center.

This week, it’s the news that Amazon are finally closing their doors on its Amazon Forum suggesting Goodreads and Spark instead.

Other Self-Publishing Advice

We’re privileged to share another story from Katharine Smith-Warren who opens up about writing her memoir using both pictures and prose in Why I Write What I Write

A reminder that it’s almost NaNoWriMo time – a worldwide programme that encourages writers to write 50K words in the month of November. Prepare for it now by reading Debbie’s article sharing 2 Top Productivity Tips

David Penny and Debbie Young brought us the AskALLi Members’ Self-Publishing Q&A. This month included questions such as:

  • Should a new version become a new book?
  • Can you gain the same visibility for a book on Amazon if you sell it directly?
  • How can you check the reputation of a self-publishing service?
  • Is it best to use IngramSpark together with CreateSpace for print?
  • What’s the industry standard for rights and royalties and what reimbursement arrangement should I use with my illustrator?

Our opinion piece was from book marketing coach Belinda Griffin who presented a challenge for all indie authors – How Indie Authors Can Stop Worrying and Learn to Love Book Marketing

And finally, as always, we come to Dan Holloway’s regular indie author news round-up. This week a fond farewell to Amazon Forum, a reminder of our Indie Author Fringe from Frankfurt this weekend, a must-read green paper on Blockchain, Wattpad’s latest partnership, and a nice bit of poetry news that he’s keen to share.
