Olaudah Equiano was known as Gustavus Vassa, a writer and abolitionist from the Igbo region of Nigeria. He was sold as a carribean, was freed in 1766. He moved to London, than married an english woman, Susannah Cullen in 1982. They had two daughters. Gystavus was a member of an abolitionish group called Sons of Africa, a movement to end the slave trade. Vassa died in 1797.
