Extra notes: So we take a halting, hesitant, half-step back from the brink of self-destruction. I'll take it.

It's a massive victory for the Democrats. Ignore the pundits who say otherwise. They are paid not to tell you the truth, but to stir up shit in order to drive up ratings and therefore ad revenue. They are paid to spin the truth into something it no longer resembles. Just ignore them.

It's also a massive victory for common sense, morality, decency, and fairness. It's a massive victory for women, justice, the LGBTQ community, immigrants, healthcare, and a hundred other good things.

Which means, directly, that it is a massive defeat for the assholes and monsters who, with their Orange Fuhrer, have worked tirelessly to destroy or corrupt those things. Take no other interpretation as the truth, because no other interpretation is the truth. Turn off your goddamned televisions; put up your fucking phones, and just think critically about it for a moment. You'll see that I'm right. That is, of course, if you even remember how to think critically. There's a good chance you haven't done so since 1989.

My long-time representative, Democrat Peter DeFazio, won handily last night. He beat--for the fifth or sixth time in a row--a neo-Nazi jerkoff by the name of Art Robinson, who has a PhD in physics, and who wants to control animals crossing the roads by salting them with--and this is no joke, it's real--uranium 238. That's the kind of nuttiness I'm forced to live with here in southwestern Oregon.

Anyway, I wrote Mr. DeFazio an email today. I thought I'd share it here. Politics, like football, is a game of inches. If a Democrat won in your state or district, you should write to congratulate him or her too--and to give them a swift kick in the ass to get to work for all the good things American once stood for and can again, as I did below.

Please allow me to extend my congratulations on your victory last night. I support you and voted for you, and I think you're doing a great job. Well done, sir.

The House flipped back to the Democrats last night as well. That's why I'm writing. The American people have had enough of Trump and his Republican enablers, and they want action right now. The dumbest thing House Democrats can do now is to sit on their hands, or begin wringing those hands in meek indecisiveness, or seeking to placate and compromise with those enablers or our illegitimately elected "president." Please--please--don't do that. Please!

Democrats need to get mean, and they need to get hard, and they need to show the American people that an actual check on this "president" is going to be implemented and carried out. He has abused the power of the office in heinous ways, to the point that its very legitimacy is now in question; he has degraded that office despicably to further his own greedy, racist agenda, and Americans see that! They're tired of it! They want dignity restored to that office, and the rule of law!

Boldness is required right now, Mr. DeFazio. That's what we're wanting from House Democrats. Boldness. Courage. Determination. Action. IMMEDIATELY.
