Top 5 Wednesday: Books That Would Make Great Video Games

Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Samantha on ThoughtsonTomes, where your goal is to find 5 books, topics, or general things that fit the theme!  To find the full list of topics, information, and pretty much anything else regarding T5W, head over to the Goodreads Group.

I wrote this entire post and then somehow it got deleted (Tysm school wifi) so let’s see how this rewrite goes.

I was so excited when I saw this T5W category, because I think it’s a fun way to look at books and, although I don’t play video games much, I Love the bookish ones (Nintendo DS Golden Compass was my shit in elementary school) and so there should be more of them, clearly.

1. The 39 Clues, by Rick Riordan (and others)

I think this would be one of the most fun games ever, because you would have to figure out the clues on your own to move forward, and beat the other teams to the big prize.  Mysteries and puzzles are severely underrepresented in the video game industry, so I’m trying to remedy this.

2. 11/22/63, by Stephen King

Time Travel / Action with a little bit of romance?  You could easily make a game where you have to save JKF from being assassinated to win. And, based on the cannon, it would take a pretty long time.

3. The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins

This would be an awesome RPG create your own character adventure. Imagine if you had stats for this guy, and you get more or less depending on the district, and you distribute them how you want, and then you go into an arena and fight irl people with your internet characyers. Ahhh the beauty of it all.

4. Ender’s Game, by Orson Scott Card

Admittedly, I haven’t read this one, but I watched the movie (I know, I know, THE HORROR) and I would love to play a game where you go to the academy and battle your teammates to be the best, highest ranked military child machine in the history of military child machines.

5. Matched, by Allie Condie

Once again, I’m thinking of a game where you create a character and RP with them. I think Matched was a really cool idea for a “world” and it would be fun to be in that universe for a little while. Also it would be a crazy cool computer algorithm if it could genuinely predict your next move (can you tell I’m a math nerd?)

Okay guys I know this post was quick but I didn’t have much time for the rewrite, because of April break and camp NaNo combined love you all and I’ll try to make it up to you soon!!!
