Throne of Glass

“We each survive in our own way.”
Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas is a book I was a bit scared to start. I had started reading her books with the A Court of series. People who started with that series and then read Throne of Glass said they didn’t like it as much for various reasons. This got me thinking, like, is this series not as epic, not as awesome, we’ll written, ect.? Then I decided to read the first book for myself and can I just say this book was a blast to read! They are written similar, but that’s just her style, and yet so different!
The main character, Celeana, who is an Assassin by the way, is such a bad ass. She does not take any crap from anybody, including Crown Prince Dorian.
“My name is Celeana Sardothien. But it makes no difference if my name’s Celeana or Lillian or Bitch, because I’d still beat you, no matter what you call me.”

When I read a book I plan on reviewing I mark quotes/ places that I like in the book that I want to use in my review. I got to about chapter ten with that, then I got sacked up into the story and was so distracted by it that u completely forgot to do that. Who else is like that? So of course I had to reread it to do that. No complaining here. To me that means it’s such a great book.
This book had an aspect I really loved. It wasn’t romance focused, it was all about this eighteen-year-old wanting her freedom from prison. She must do this by winning a compition to become the Champion of the one person she hates the most, the King of Adrian. The person that took away her freedom and made her a slave. That isn’t to say there isn’t a bit of romance.
So far in only the first book she has two people falling for her. The first person is Crown Prince Dorian.
“Still, the image haunted his dreams throughout the night: a lovely girl gazing at the Stars, and the Stars who gazed back.”
The second person is the Captain of the Guard, Chaol.
“With everyday he felt the barriers melting. He let then melt. Because if her genuine laugh, because he caught her one afternoon sleeping with her face in the middle of a book, because he knew that she would win.”
I gave this book a five out of five. It’s just written so well. It’s not romance based, it’s based on a young woman in a world where she only knows how to survive doing one thing: kill people for money/ greater purpose.
It’s so beautifully written and even though people try to compare it to her other series, they just can’t be compared against each other.
As soon as I started this book I knew I had to have the rest of them, so they went on my wish list. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series!
