via Daily Prompt: Typical
Your dark hair tumbles down your shoulders
All glossy and pretty
Your eyes are framed by thick black
You balance on high heels,
All girly and beautiful and strange.
Everyone grins
In awe and wonder and mock envy
I grin too, at first.
But then
I think
This isn’t you.
I’ve lost you in a sea of Plastic faces.
I thought we had each other
In a world that’s shallow and artificial.
But I’ve been clinging to a mirage this whole time.
The watery illusion of a girl,
Tomboyish and natural and real.
Something that never really existed,
Was all just a mask.
And like everyone else,
You’re plastic underneath.
