Beauty Blender Or Brushes?

As a teenager I haven’t always had much money to spend on Beauty products or if I did i would spend it on an actual product and not make up tools. As I am sure many of you are, I was torn between getting a Beauty Blender which many people raved about or spend a bit more money on a few make up brushes in order to get the perfect complexion.

Beauty Blender

There are many pros and cons to getting a Beauty Blender and that is what I am here to talk about but first let me tell you about my experience with one. As I said earlier I am a teenager and unfortunately I am not one of those lucky people that are blessed with perfect skin, I GET SPOTS and I need to cover them. I found that the Beauty Blender gave a perfect seamless finish, and light coverage and it is really fast and easy to use. (I mean all you’re doing is pressing a sponge on your face) but that was an issue for me as it I needed a bit more than a light coverage. Disclaimer- I am not in any way saying that the Beauty Blender does not give a full coverage at all, obviously this depends on how much product you use (build it up) or what type of foundation you are using and that I do use a Beauty Blender myself on a regular basis. (http://www.beautybay.com/accessories/beautyblender/sponge/)

Advantages-

  • Fast and easy to use
  • Only £16 each
  • Removes any excess product that is not needed
  • Seamless finish
  • Light coverage (if that is what you are after)

Disadvantages-

  • They do not last as long as a brush and will need to keep renewing them so they could work out more expensive as a brush in the long run
  • Do not give as full of a coverage as a brush (if that is what you are after)
  • Not suitable for people who are looking to cover acne or and sort of imperfection

Face Brushes

I found that using a face brush such as the Real Techniques brushes gave me a lot more coverage for the condition on my skin and that they gave a better pay off with the foundation. I often use a face brush to get the coverage I want and then go over with a Beauty Blender to get that seamless look. Advantages-

  • Perfect for any type of look, full coverage or light
  • Does not soak up much foundation so there is not a lot of waste
  • They last an extremely long time if they are cared for

Disadvantages-

  • Can be more expensive than a Beauty Blender
  • There are many different types so it can be difficult to find what is right for you
