Birds of City Palace, Udaipur

If there was one monument that is most visited in Udaipur it is the beautiful City Palace. Housing a stunning museum, this exquisite palace is located on the stunning Lake Pichola that also has the famed Lake Palace and Jag Mandir too. Its picture perfect environs make for several Instagram worthy pictures and it is common to see tourists clicking endless images here. Well, after all why not? Udaipur has recently been voted as the third most beautiful city in the world and this part of the city largely contributes to its ethereal charm.

Bird Song

During a recent stay at Fateh Prakash, one of the hotels operated under the HRH Group located in the premises, however, I decided to go on a birding trip. While that might sound a bit farfetched, it is really not as the Palace is surrounded by lush greenery, much like the rest of the Mewar region making it home to several species of birds. While most people will tell you that the best time to see birds is at the crack of dawn, I suggest you wait until sunrise to listen to the birds twitter and the catch the beauties behind the chirps.

Lake Pichola itself is home to several avian species like the Black headed Ibis, Snake Bird and ducks and cranes of all kinds. The surrounding environs are green and the abundance of large trees here, ensure that there are many varieties of birds who have made this place their residence. So well, these are birds in the royal precincts and here are some birds I spotted.
