No. Not THAT coming out. Lord willing and as the Spirit guides and directs, I will cover countless topics here, and that will definitely be one of them. But not today. Today, for my inaugural post, I am coming out of the darkness and stepping into the light. Better late than never I suppose. What darkness, you ask? It’s simple.
More often than not, since I accepted Christ as my Savior at the age of twenty five–I’m now forty-two–I have been ‘riding the fence’ , as it were, trying to live the life of a child of God AND live in the world. Quite frankly, it has been exhausting and I’m over it !
Does that mean I’m through sinning? Seriously? I am a child of God; I’m a sinner saved by grace. yes, that’s right. I am saved from the condemnation of my sin–eternity in Hell–and have been since the day I accepted God’s free gift of salivation through his son Jesus Christ. This does not mean that I am sin-free. I am going to sin; God knows it, Jesus knows it, and you better believe Satan knows it. And if that’s all there was to it, that’d be pretty depressing! Praise God that ain’t the end of it !
My sins are forgiven, past, present, and future. That’s the wonder and beauty of God’s gift of salvation, His promise to me as His child. A promise that was signed with Jesus’s blood, sealed with the Holy Spirit, and delivered with Christ’s final words on Earth, “It is finished”.
So there it is, my first step from darkness to light. It’s a new day and with God as my Father, Christ as my Savior, and the Holy Spirit as my guide, I can do all things. I can resist Satan’s temptations, remain in the Light, follow God’s chosen path for my life, and by His grace I can succeed! Yes, I’ll stumble and fall along the way, but I get it. FINALLY I get it. It’s not about the fall, it’s about the landing, and I can’t think of a better place to land than on the solid Rock of Ages.
