Pilot Proposes To Flight Attendant On A Plane

On Dec. 23, Flight attendant Lauren Gibbs and pilot Jon Emerson were working an Oklahoma City-bound flight from Detroit that was especially sweet, not only because they were flying together, but also because it was their anniversary. Following standard protocol, Emerson discussed the flight time and turbulence passengers could expect at 36,000 feet, before making a truly exciting announcement.

In an adorable video filmed by an off-duty pilot, Jon can be heard informing passengers about the 2.5 hours of flight duration and a possible turbulence and suddenly he goes on to introduce Lauren to the passengers and says, “This is a very special day for Lauren and me. It’s our anniversary today and she’s one of our very best flight attendants. I want this day to be known for the rest of our lives. I want to spend the rest of my life with her.”

The video shows Jon getting down on one knee with a ring in one hand and asking Lauren to spend the rest of her life with him. Lauren is seen getting emotional as she leans down to kiss Jon, while the passengers can be heard cheering for the couple.

Lauren, who’s a part of the cabin crew, was visibly overwhelmed with the surprise proposal and said “yes”. Lauren also posted the video and pictures of the ring on her Facebook page, describing the emotional moment as “a dream”.

Gibbs told The Independent that it was very out of character for her fiancee to do it: “I was caught so off guard.

“Jon is a really quiet guy, with a very shy personality so for him to do it in front of passengers was so not like him, but for me it was perfect and so thoughtful.”

According to The Independent, Emerson asked an off-duty pilot sitting in first class, to film the sweet moment.
