Wiring control charger directly to inverter

All the diagrams I've seen so far shows the charge controller's Output Cables going to the battery bank, where the inverter is drawing it's dc power from. So two cables on each battery post, or using a T. Any reason why we cannot attach the cc output cables to the inverter's dc input instead of to the batteries, they're all tied to each other anyway, no? As you can see, no electrician here.
