MyInjuryAttorney Announces 2018 Legal Scholarship Winner

Future attorney Ethen Inren Chen makes a point of following his passions – and law is just one of those passions.

“Whether I’m rapping music or wrapping dumplings, I will continue to expand my skill set,” the first-year law student at the University of Iowa College of Law says of his other favorite pastimes, hip-hop music and cooking.

Chen, a 22-year-old from Cerritos, CA, graduated from the University of California—Riverside in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree. He was one of over 140 current and prospective students in a law-related field of study to apply for the MyInjuryAttorney Legal Scholarship 2017-2018.

His engaging introduction set his application apart from the beginning. His essay, a hope-filled account of how his love for music helped bring together a community and encourage change, inspired us immediately.

Chen plans to use his knowledge of law and his future career as an attorney to make an even bigger difference through music. His future goals include providing Legal support for charitable events, artists working to raise funds and awareness for charitable causes, and organizations in the arts that work toward influencing social change.

Every year, the MyInjuryAttorney Legal Scholarship (formerly called the Console & Hollawell Legal Scholarship) awards a $1,000 prize to a high school, college, or law school student planning to pursue a degree related to the legal industry. Past winners have included a juris doctor student and aspiring social advocate at Washington University in St. Louis School of Law, a Criminal Justice Law Enforcement major at Farmingdale State College, and a political science major with plans to create laws that support environmentally sustainable practices.

We wish Ethen Chen the best in his law school studies and hope that he will always use his law degree and relentless optimism to keep making a difference.
