The Functions of Our Skin

The Skin is the outer clothing that wraps us. It is the largest organ we have and its several functions include the following:
1. It protects us from harm, when various objects hit us or when we hit ourselves against them.
2. It regulates our body temperature through contracting when the weather is cold or expanding and perspiring when the weather is hot.
3. Through perspiration that may be visible or invisible to us, the skin is continuously sending pollutants and other waste material out of our bodies.
4. It is a mirror that summarizes the results of various processes taking place in all organs of the body. Through various changes in its characteristics, it summarizes several important conditions within us. For example:
a. Plants that are denied of sufficient water wilt. Similarly, when your body does not have adequate amounts of water, its various organs "wilt", as mirrored by your skin. A dry, coarse and wrinkled skin suggests any of several conditions such as chronic dehydration, low lymph quality and flow, liver functions that are getting weak through chronic alcoholism or other health problems, aging-related factors, etc. Therefore, the fact that the skin tends increasingly to get drier as we get older is a signal that most organs in the body are suffering from various unhealthy low levels of water. Nobody has yet succeeded in stopping the aging process. Nonetheless, specifically in relation to slowing down the drying of various organs, you need to sustain healthy levels of water and lymphatic fluid in your body.
b. Pimples, eczema, boils and other skin blemishes result from creating more toxins and other impurities than the body of the victim is able to flush out through his urine, faeces or perspiration.
c. An unpleasant body odour (including that of the breath and shoes) reveals that the body is keeping too much nitrogenous material, because the digestive system and the waste flushing team are less effective at handling the excess protein, especially of the meat-related varieties, that are part of that person's eating lifestyle
d. Piles (haemorrhoids) result from chronic constipation.

Use Water to Rid Yourself of Pimples, Eczema, Boils, etc

The good news is that nature constantly moisturizes your skin from within you body, if only you help the process by taking ample amounts of water each day. This will keep your skin doing a good job for you permanently. The moisture from within you that continuously pushes out of your pores then forms a barrier between your skin and the dust, pollutants and other harmful substances that are attracted to the skin from the air around us. This natural barrier is highly important for our health, especially in our present times of increased environmental pollution., particularly in our cities and other urban centres.

Whether you are aware of it or not we perspire all the time, although we cannot see or feel most of it. Of course, when our bodies react to higher temperatures around us or when we get heated during physical effort, we perspire more visibly. However, if you have to constantly paint your skin or rub on it some amounts of additional substances, such as artificial moisturizers, this is a sign that your skin is not getting enough lubrication from within you.

Pimples, eczema, acne, boils and various skin blemishes can only be caused by favourable conditions. Most of the evidence suggests that chronic dehydration is one of the most common factors that help in creating or in sustaining these favourable conditions. Additional common causes or boosters of these skin problems include the following:
1.. Allergies
2. Hormonal changes
3. Menstrual period - This is caused by hormonal changes in the female. On these occasions, the bodies of most women would be creating more pollutants than their present eating and drinking habits allow them to flush out.
4. Constipation.

Each of these conditions creates a crisis in the body and disturbs its balance. During the period involved, the body produces toxins or waste material at a rate that is that is faster than it can flush out. Accordingly, these occasions are signals that the affected person should simultaneously do the following:
1. Avoid further shocks to the system by not consuming polluting agents.
2. Have a healthy diet lifestyle that is biased toward vegetarian food items.
3. Since the body is producing more waste products than is normal, the daily water intake should also increase to more than average. The corresponding increase in urine output is the fastest and most natural strategy available to each of us for flushing out toxins that would otherwise continue to harm the body equilibrium.
4. Have a regular daily programme of physical exercise that could be as simple as walking for about an hour each morning and evening.

Measures You Can Adopt To Improve The Condition Of Your Skin

The skin ages faster for people with lighter complexions than that of those with darker complexions. However, even if you are lucky to have skin that can stay firm for most of your life span, you can help it along the way through applying several measures that including the following:
1. Eat the right foods - The more you emphasize nutritive foods , the more every part of your body will enjoy better health. It is partly correct that vitamins A, C ,E and others help to make the skin beautiful. However, you need informed and expert guidance in using these items. For example, an overdose of vitamin A is very toxic, whereas you can take very high doses of carotene (that your body converts into vitamin A) and be safe, except you will look yellowish  or like some variety of Orientals, if you have the European-type of skin.

2. Avoid dehydration - This means daily intakes of ample amounts of water and staying away from various slow poisons and dehydrating substances.

3. Avoid constipation - If you eat correctly and avoid dehydration, constipation will surely never feature as part of the vocabulary related to your health.

4. Correct physical exercise - Exercise burns the excess energy that is stored as excess fat within the body which, with the passage of time, causes folds and wrinkles to develop on affected parts. For example, if you are likely to develop puffy tissues around the eyes or already have them, you need to do the following:
a. Ensure that you rest very well at night and, if you can afford it, include midday naps. This is because stress and insufficient rest tend to result in puffy eyelids for some people, especially ladies.
b. Copy what cats do. Several times during the day, use two fingers ( the pointing and middle fingers) in several circular clockwise and counter clockwise massages of the muscles around the eyes. This will help firm up the affected muscles of your eyelids and also bring more blood to the area. Routine increases in blood supply to the area can also improve your eyesight.

5. Regular friction for the skin - Your skin needs good amounts of regular friction. Some people can afford a regular or occasional body massage. However, just about everybody can afford to have regular baths that simultaneously help us clean and massage our skins. It is useful to be reminded that every tissue in your body gets firmer with exercise. Your skin is no exception. Depending on its nature, use a sponge, or a suitable face towel or whatever item that would regularly give it enough friction. As long as you sustain this exercise, your skin will stay firm for most of your life. It is one of the best ways to keep those unwanted wrinkles away or at least very much reduced.

6. Perspiration - Give your skin regular opportunities to perspire profusely. This way to increase perspiration only on the face is to expose it to occasional hot steam baths, sustained for as long as you wish early in the morning and just before retiring to bed at night. This loosens any body oils (sebum) that may have caked over the pores. The pores open up and impurities that are locked in them get loose, particularly if you massage the skin while it is still warm. You then round up your routine by washing the face with natural soap (i.e., one with a pH 7)and warm water. If you have stubborn pimples, eczema and similar blemishes, you may have to repeat this routine more often, until your skin becomes stable and requires less or only occasional doses of this treatment.

7. Choice of cosmetics - You are unique and cosmetics that may be suitable for others may irritate your skin. If you love using these items, then you have a lifelong task, because your body chemistry  keeps changing with food, lifestyle, psychology and age. Therefore, a cosmetic preparation that was ideal for you at a younger age may become disastrous at later ages.

8. What about plastic surgery? - Some people , especially ladies, who wish to look young as long as they can usually go for face lifts or surgery that stretches and tightens facial skins by removing the excess that causes wrinkles. As the name implies, the surface of many of these surfaces actually look like plastic sheets instead of natural skin. Unfortunate ones end up with terrible scars along the hairline where the excess skin was removed and the remainder pulled over and stitched together.
