Lovely By Billie Eilish & Khalid-A Haunting Song About Depression

Tags: song lovely voice

Lovely is definitely one of the most haunting songs that I have ever listened to. You know it is obviously about something gloomy and bleak but it still sounds unbelievably well..."lovely". This unexplainable sensation of wanting to be imprisoned by this song is down to the spellbinding voice of Billie Eilish-the latest singing prodigy who is only 16 years old. Dayum! Together with the equally mesmerizing voice of Khalid, Lovely turns out to be one unholy beautiful song that deserves our attention.

When your voices blend together.

Though some might point out that the song has become a hit after being featured as a soundtrack for the second season of 13 Reasons Why. Then again such limelight can only bring you that far; Their voices and the arrangement of music really hit all the right chords, delivering whimsical but yet melancholy sensation which will linger in your head for some time before dissipating into thin air. Isn't it lovely?

Eilish-the 16 years old singing sensation!

According to Eilish herself, Lovely is a slow piano-led ballad about searching for something better. She also claimed that the title of the song was meant to be sarcastic which is true. Any idea what is the song about? All in all, I honestly believe that Lovely is about one's struggle with depression and wanting to find a way out. Though they talk about wanting to fight the very demon which is terrorizing them, at the same time, ironically they feel happy being alone and miserable. It sounds like it is ok for us to be "mental" as it is part of us. Chilling! Now do listen to the song and let me know what you think about it.

"Lovely"
(from "13 Reasons Why: Season 2" soundtrack)

Thought I found a way
Thought I found a way out (found)
But you never go away (never go away)
So I guess I gotta stay now

Oh, I hope some day I'll make it out of here
Even if it takes all night or a hundred years
Need a place to hide, but I can't find one near
Wanna feel alive, outside I can't fight my fear

Isn't it lovely, all alone
Heart made of glass, my mind of stone
Tear me to pieces, skin to bone
Hello, welcome home

Walking out of time
Looking for a better place (looking for a better place)
Something's on my mind
Always in my head space

But I know someday I'll make it out of here
Even if it takes all night or a hundred years
Need a place to hide, but I can't find one near
Wanna feel alive outside I can't fight my fear

Isn't it lovely, all alone
Heart made of glass, my mind of stone
Tear me to pieces, skin to bone
Hello, welcome home

Woah, yeah
Yeah, ah
Woah, woah
Hello, welcome home

Sooo...how do you feel after listening to the song? Try closing your eyes now...you can still hear their voices reverberating in your head right? It feels like the song has weaved into your heart and mind, as if you somehow can feel the misery that the song is trying to relay, no? Well...I think I can connect the song like we are at currently at the same wavelength. Haunting! If you think Billie Eilish's voice is good, do listen to her other songs like Ocean Eyes and Bellyache. I am sure you will find them lovely. Remember she is only 16! :)
