Jennifer Baird Beauty - Review

Before I had children, I was all about the glamour!
I was a beauty therapist who had access to all kinds of lotions, potions and treatments, many that I could perform on myself.
After I had Cora, I slipped a little. I kept up with my fake tanning (my ultimate feel good treat) and invested on a Nail machine so I could always have my nails done.
Doing all these things myself is great and helps with budgeting as they can be quite expensive but it feels like a luxury pamper when you have someone else do it.
I was invited along to Designer waxing on Lothian Road to have my Lashes and nails done by the ever so lovely Jennifer Baird who has recently rented a room there and started her own business within the establishment.
Jennifer is an experienced therapist who has the wonderful One spa at The Sheraton and Morningside’s The Nailyard in her resume and has recently gone out on her own, specialising in gel nails and semi permanent lashes. Jennifer trained at the highly regarded Mary Reid college of beauty in Edinburgh and her attention to detail is second to none.
I was greeted by Jennifer at the door of the salon, as it’s a secure entrance which not only makes the place feel safe but also adds a touch of exclusivity to it all.
Jennifer was warm and friendly, making me feel relaxed for my treatments and the salon, bright and clean. This salon was built for waxing, nails and the likes as it had a more clinical feel than a relaxing one which I liked. I knew this place was well cleaned and fit for the purpose of its treatments.
I filled out my consultation form and was lead into one of the small waxing rooms for my lashes, the room for organised and set up for my treatment.
Jennifer looked at my lashes and then asked me a list of questions to get an idea of what kind of lashes would be best for me. I have had lashes before and Jennifer seemed to know what was just right for me. The lashes were by the well known company Novalash, so I knew it was a brand I could trust.
She recommended I go for the American volume lashes in c- curl and I was recommended two different lash lengths, 8mm and 10 mm. This would give me volume and length, it would be more extreme than a natural lash but I wanted them to stand out and feel a little glam for my up and coming holiday.
I lay down on the bed and Jennifer made sure I was comfy and warm, I was offered extra blankets but the room was a comfortable temperature but was told if I needed them just to ask as I would be on the bed for some time. The bed was comfortable and with a lovely support pillow finished it off beautifully.
Jennifer explained the whole process well, my eyes were to be taped shut during the treatment which is pretty unnerving but I felt safe and Jennifer reassured me to talk to her if I was feeling any discomfort during the treatment.
The lash treatment is not a quick one if you want it done right, I spent nearly 2 hours on the bed having my lashes applied. Jennifer chatted to me the whole time which I enjoyed, the conversation was chatty and Jennifer was so reassuring and lovely during this time. I could see many people falling asleep during this time, who wouldn’t say no to a 2 hour nap!!
As the tape was gently removed, Jennifer showed me her handy work and WOW my lashes were stunning! What a difference they made to my face! I had no makeup on but I looked so “made up”.
The aftercare was explained and I was also presented with a card with all the information I would need to keep my lashes looking amazing till I had my in-fills (top up) in around 3 weeks time. I was also given my own little brush for them to keep them well groomed.
With my lashes looking lush, it was time to get started on my nails.
The range of colours was overwhelming, I could have spent the whole evening looking through them all but Jennifer helped me choose the right colour for my holidays. The colour was Orly “rage” with the IBD “Anything glows” on top for ever sparkle. Glitter is not just for Christmas folks!
Jennifer used The Gel Bottle, which was a first for me. I had not heard this brand before but Jennifer said they were amazing, vegan, cruelty free and free form 10 main chemicals normally found in other gel polishes!
Jennifer took her time and her paint job was perfect! My nails went from drab to fab in 45 mins.
I was very impressed with the whole treatment journey from start to finish. Jennifer is an excellent therapist and we all know when you find the one, you stick with them forever!
Prices for lashes start at £85 and top ups are £50, the lashes I had though are £110 and the quality is very clear!
Nails start from £30, with pedicures also on offer.
