15 Cute School Supplies for Kids (Mom-Approved)

You’ve probably noticed that I love to help other moms be more productive. But, when it’s time to buy School supplies for kids, I purposely choose the option that neither simplifies my life nor saves me time.

I know! Here I am, not following my own advice .

But, here’s why.

My kids’ schools normally offer parents the convenience to order a School Supplies box. It’s a quick process done through the school. And, it’s even delivered directly to the school.

Even though it’s very convenient, and I am all about saving time, I love shopping for school supplies with my kids.

I understand that sometimes we have to choose a specific brand, color, or design that the school requested. However, whenever possible, I prefer to let my kids choose the school supplies they really want. Involving them in the back to school process, motivates them to go to school even more which is a big plus.

This time, while I was searching for the school supplies online, I thought of you guys. Since you have to go through the same process, I put together this school supplies list for you. Hopefully, you can check off several items from your school supply list, too!

Most of the supplies listed are items that my kids use, have used, or like.

List of School Supplies

1. The Incredibles 2 Backpack

After seeing how popular The Incredibles 2 movie was, many kids will probably be asking for the Incredibles backpack this year.

2. Minnie Mouse Lunchbox

This Minnie Mouse lunchbox is so adorable! I love Minnie Mouse’s face, the colors, and the fact that you can even personalize it! There are also other cute styles that look like backpacks. By the way, Mickey Mouse is also available.

Quick tip: Don’t forget to put lunchbox notes in your child’s lunchbox.

3. Cat Pencil Pouch

This cat pencil pouch is pretty popular. What I like the most is that it stays up all the time which makes it more convenient for kids to get what they need from the pouch.

4. Jurassic World School Set

Perfect for a Jurassic World fan. It’s a 6-piece set that includes a backpack, a lunchbox, and an insulated snack bag. Don’t forget a Jurassic World shirt or other school supplies such as notebooks and folders.

5. Plastic Dividers with Pockets

These are not the common dividers. They are a tear-resistant plastic, they have pretty colors and they have cool fashion designs. Each divider has a front pocket and a clear tab on the side.

6. Dividers (without pockets)

Sometimes you just need the dividers without the pockets. You can get the ones that are bright and colorful. Or, check out these other ones which are not that bright but still colorful. They have 8 tabs and a see-through window.

7. Repositionable Tabs

The repositionable tabs are very convenient, especially for bigger kids in middle school and high school. Like the plastic dividers, these tabs are fashionable too. But, there are more styles that you can choose from.

8. Index cards

Index cards are good for everything! Recipes, quick notes, flashcards, contact information, and much more.  That’s why there are always few packages of index cards at home. Especially the white index cards and the colorful ones.

But, there is also a to-do list vertical index card that your kid can use as a reminder, to keep special notes, or to stay on top of homework and projects. And, it’s something that they can keep in their binder, notebook, or locker.

9. Dated Planner

Planners are one of the best productivity tools. They keep your notes and reminders organized and can help you focused on your most important tasks. The link will take you to the elementary planner which is gorgeous, but there more available planners including ones for middle and high schoolers.

10. Calculator

This is the graphing calculator that my oldest daughter used for middle school and now, for high school. Even though she doesn’t like math, she finds the calculator very easy to use and a big helper.

11. Pencil Case

Here is another pencil pouch but for bigger kids. I like the style and the handle on the side which makes it easy for kids to carry between classes, too.

12. Paper Mate Flair Felt Tip Pens

Because bigger kids may need pens for their planner, notebooks, or projects, I am including the pens that my teenage daughter absolutely loves. She likes the way that they write, their design, and the colors. Especially, the tropical vacation colors. And the best part is that these pens don’t bleed through.

13. Twistable Colored Pencils

In addition to pens, kids normally use colored pencils too. If you have found yourself sharpening colored pencils every 5 minutes, then these twistable colored pencils should save you some time.

14. Permanent Markers

These pens are great for marking important words or sentences on the notebooks, homework, or projects. This limited-edition package brings 24 assorted colors so there are plenty of colors to use.

15. Printer

For the last several years, many school districts have been integrating technology as part of their curriculums and teaching methods. Even though our school district provides laptops to the students, there are still many things to print at home.

That’s the exact printer that we bought last year. In addition to printing, this machine can scan, copy, and fax. Besides that, there are two features that I really like.

The first one is the double-sided printing. It’s very easy to use and saves you paper! The second one is the wireless printing which allows you to print from different devices. That was a huge plus for us. My oldest daughter was able to easily print from her school laptop without having to wait for me.

Now, over to you

Since each school district is different, this list included items that are cute but still commonly used by most school districts.

Hopefully, this list of school supplies has helped you save some time and trips to the stores.

Best wishes to your kids during this school year!
