How to Set Up Multiple User Accounts on Windows PC Using UEM

Windows has made it easy for separate user accounts to be created on a single PC. Multiple user accounts on Windows is a feature often used by enterprises to allow more than one end user to access a device. This is a convenient feature if an enterprise doesn’t want all users of a device to share the same application settings, files, and system permissions.

Multiple user accounts provide all users access to their own browser, applications, and settings. Different users can log in to the same device, provided that one user locks the screen and another user logs in using their username and password. Individual programs will remain running in the background.

42Gears UEM gives you the ability to set up and manage multiple user accounts on a Windows PC using a simple runscript. Follow the steps below to remotely create a user account on a Windows device:

1. Log in to 42Gears UEM Web Console.

2. Click Jobs and select New Job.

3. Select Windows as the operating system.

4. Select the Runscript job.

5. Add a Job Name and add the following script.

net user/add username 0000

Note – The username will have to be replaced with the name in order to be created for the new user. 0000 is the default password which can be replaced with a new password.

6. Click Save to create the job.

7. Go back to SureMDM Home, select the Windows device and click Apply.

8. Select the recently saved job and click Apply.

The new user login will now be created on the Windows device with the specified username and password.
