New Music You Shouldn’t Miss

I was going from topic to topic the past few days, wondering what to talk about in this post. I do have some ideas, but none of them seemed to be something I want to talk about at this exact moment so, in the end, I decided to go back to the passion that inspired this blog – music.

There were several releases of songs from bands and artist I follow and love to talk about, but I never came to blog about any of them. Instead of writing lengthy reviews and analyzing every line of lyrics, I will tell you about three releases I think are worth checking out really quick without much detail. I hope you enjoy this post and you find some good new music to listen to.

Esoterik – Wild Awake

For a reason unknown to me, Esoterik aka Eso‘s new song is not on YouTube and the only way to hear it for free is with Spotify. Here is the link, check it out.

The first thing you can notice without me pointing it out (I will do it anyway) is the sick artwork illustrating the concept of the song. Just like any other time, Eso‘s visuals do not disappoint.

Before I go any further, I feel the need to mention that this is an unofficial announcement a solo Album under the name of Esoterik is on the way. What’s more, Genius even managed to get the tracklist from Eso himself and here it is (official, but unreleased)

1.   Welcome (Intro) (Unreleased)
2.   Just For You (Unreleased)
3.   Bless Up
4.   Stay Fly (Unreleased)
5.   Love Is The Vibe (Unreleased)
6.   Fucking With This Shit (Unreleased)
7.   Be Like You
8.   Make ‘Em Say (Unreleased)
9.   Wide Awake
By the song titles, I am guessing a lot of positivity and inspiration is coming our way!

The song

To put it simply – the song is fire! Unlike the previously released Bless Up, Wilde Awake is a song with a lot more serious note, addressing several important issues, but at the same time it sounds fresh and delivers hip-hop of the highest quality from Australia.

The song is a rebellious manifestation of the sad truth of our current situation as humans and revives old topics, which were unfortunately neglected and turned into a serious problem. Eso also inspires people to start living (outside their cages), take more chances, spend time with family, overcome fears, and focus on love, not hate.

Esoterik collaborated with imbi the girl and Spazzy D to bring an important message to life – awaken and start living. Being completely honest and concerned (the tone of the song adds up to that), Eso starts with several daunting facts on which he elaborates more and more.

However, he is most concerned about people being too addicted to technology and our heads being only in the bed or in our iPhones. This and many more verses come to show that what Linkin Park (and other artists) were concerned is getting too big of a problem in 2014 (The Hunting Party) is now even more serious – social media is manipulating people’s minds and we are getting addicted to technology for the worse. Worry not, Eso has a way to open our eyes in the most appealing way possible.

Mike Shinoda

Following his 3-track EP Post Traumatic, Mike Shinoda dropped two new songs and announced an upcoming album under the name of the EP, as well as several solo shows he will be doing soon.

I believe the songs are once again a reflection of what Mike has been dealing with for quite some time. All the feelings represented in a classic hip-hop style.

Simple beat, genuine emotion, clear message – this is what Crossing A Line is all about. As Mike himself elaborated after the release, there was a lot of doubt and uncertainty of where he should go in a musical sense, the song explains the process of fear and doubt of whether or not his fans and his bandmates will approve of what Mike is planning to do and how he deals with that. Life-changing decisions, reasoning behind actions, and stress about how people will see you for those actions are the main topics of the song and are covered quite well, making valid statements.

This one has a more Linkin Park instead of a Fort Minor feel to it. Again the song tells a personal story and shows the struggle of Mike finding a direction and getting back on his feet after his “safe bubble” was popped and his world was turned upside down. The intro of the video mildly suggests that nothing makes sense anymore not only in his personal world but also in our world in general.

Thirty Seconds To Mars

On the 6th of April, the American hard/alt rock titans Thirty Seconds to Mars released their fifth studio album – America. The album was hyped for months by the fans and the band themselves and there is plenty to say about it (I will keep it short no worries).

The album comes in many covers – from important and relevant to funny and provocative

I will restrain myself from going deep into the concept and messages of the album, but there is a lot to explore and as the band themselves have stated – “this album easily goes from funny, to provocative, to extremely serious and personal”. Needless to say, the inspiration behind it was the United States of America and all the tension and discussions around it. An indirect message to Donald Trump and his political reign has also been included in one of the lead singles Walk On Water.

Apart from the extremely relevant and interesting topics to look into, the album has a lot more exciting aspects.

  • To begin with, a lot of collaborations were made with popular and talented artists including: Halsey, ASAP Rocky, Zedd, KillaGraham, Robopop, Yellowclaw, and more.
Some of them have turned out extremely well I have to say
  • There is a song in the album consisting of Shanon vocals only (Remedy) and it is surprisingly good
  • This is a very radical change of style compared to previous albums and involves a lot of experimentation and mixture of genres
  • The album is nevertheless amazing and really enjoyable to listen to, the band didn’t disappoint for sure and a spectacular world tour is on the way (go see them if you have the chance, I guarantee the show is totally worth it!)

This was my short music update for you guys. I hope you found it interesting and you will give those artist a shots (if you haven’t yet already), I believe their music is worth checking out. There is much to look forward to in 2018 and the year is already a great success for the music world.

Thanks a lot for reading and stay tuned for more post on various topics. Who knows what comes next.
