I really can’t keep up with that of the pace that technology continually is getting better and/or reinventing itself. But with that excitement and amazement there always comes the counter force that slowly but surely finds its way from the back of my mind, to front and centre as if it was an army officer waiting for its orders.
Now my previous excitement along with amazement is dead and I’m confronted by fear and doubt that have led to thoughts of the possible dystopia we might find ourselves in being nothing more than a pet kept in what the robots will refer to as ”human zoos”.
Okay so that could be a slight over exhaustion but as chopper would say ”Never let the truth get in the way of a good yarn”. Weather the future worries you or not or maybe some might not even thought about it, the following creations by man will surely amaze you in one way or another!
When the robot over-lords do in slave humanity and open a countless number of human zoos will those with prosthetic limbs who for a lack of a better term could call them half-robot just decide to go all in? Will they upgrade from outdated bones, blood and skin which fail miserably in comparison to Robot Limbs. Never have to worry about pulling muscles, getting toe cramps, breaking bones, open wounds that can get infected, parasites, influenza or maybe the best part not having to exercise! Well we may just have to coin a new faze for these people something like man-borg (half man + half cyborg) because they are controlling their robot limbs exactly the same way as their fully fleshed counter parts would. Just by simple thinking it! Where do I sign up?
Electrodes are implanted into an individual’s brain in exactly the same places as the neurons that would normally work to tell your body to walk or grab that bottle of water off the table. They then have the Receiving Computer in the prosthetic limb and program it so that when the neuron which was replaced by an electrode gets a signal it then is picked up by the computer in the limb which then instructs the limb to react in exactly the same way that it would prosthetic limb or not! Actually think about that for a second, the fact that people with this technology will be able to walk again or maybe some be able to walk for the very first time, I love to think just how much of a difference this could make to a countless number of paralyzed patience the sensation of touch!
Your probably thinking where are these robot over lords even going to come from, our microwaves and fridges aint going to just grow legs. Well then you must not have seen a japanese robot that can do standing backflips and land on its feet! Or maybe the robot that is capable of jumping a 3 story building with ease. It would be as if today thousands of cave men came out of somewhere and where trying to go to war with us with their fred flintstone bats and fire, but instead with the robots we become nothing more than cavemen in a battle that we would have already lost before it started.
A.I. that can beat the worlds best GO player which is something that was predicted to not even be fixable for years to come, the main reason being there are more possibly games + moves than there are atoms in the universe thus making an algorithm in which A.I. would topple the worlds best highly unlikely, but they seemed to have miscalculated quite a bit.
Telepathy, maybe not just a myth after all. When they where able to successfully conduct an experiment where two people communicated telepathically via thoughts from France all the way to India with a distance of around 8,000 km. They achieved this by firstly having both people where a cap that connects to their scalps which picks up on impulses via electroencephalogram (EEG) and also the help of a image-guided and robot-assisted transcranial magnetic stimulation(TMS). Together they turn the impulses into code which is then sent through the internet to the receiving computer which interrupts the information and turns it into phosphenes, in laymens turns flashes of light. The recipient is blindfolded to make sure that no outside light will interfere with the flashing that they see. It’s from this flashing that they then would figure out what was thought to them by the other person. The language used in the test was only very basic words such as hello, goodbye along them lines but had an average of being right 90% of the time. Pretty impressive if you ask me!
So many unanswered questions that only time can tell like ” The white light that millions of people claim to see in near death experiences, well it’s entirely possible that we go towards that light and then it becomes so intensely bright that we become momentarily blind and then when our eyesight slowly starts to come back the first thing you see is a bunch of people crowded around. The Doctor is there with a pair of succors in his hands and you are completely confused as to what he could be doing with them until you realize his using them to cut your umbilical cord.
