Let's Start.....

Earlier I Mostly Write about Fiber, Now I am Writing about Optical Active an Passive Component.


  • Optical Transmitter :-  
Below Image shows and Optical SFP Module, Which is an Optical Transceiver.


Optical Transmitter is to Convert Electrical Input Signal into a corresponding optical Signal.

Optical Transmitter Contains are Optical Source and Modulators.
Optical Source as LED's and Semiconductor LASER.
  • LED - Light Emitting Diode:-

LED is a device which convert Voltage (Electrical Signal) into Optical Signal or we can Say emits light wave Corresponding Voltage Input.

Modulation Bandwidth of an LED is in 50 -140 Hz.
LED's are Inexpensive Comparative to LASER.

  • Semiconductor LASER :- 

Firstly Full Form of LASER - Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission Radiation.

Semiconductor LASER's are also Convert Electrical Input Signal into Optical Light-wave Signal.
Modulation Bandwidth of Semiconductor LASER at High Frequencies (up to 25 GHz).
