The New Google Chrome Lets User Surf on Android Without an Internet Connection

Google is dedicatedly making efforts to make web available for everyone and everywhere. Google is updating Google Chrome with a new feature for its Android users to surf the web even without a constant internet connection. The New Google Chrome with the new feature will be launched for Android users and is available in about a 100 countries including India, Nigeria, Indonesia, and Brazil.

To access even without a constant internet connection, the user needs to download the latest version of Chrome on their Android device from the Google Play Store.

“Looking more into the new update, the new updated Chrome will automatically download relevant articles, based on user’s preferences as well as what content is most popular in their location when you are connected to the free, unmetered Wi-Fi. This way, the feature will allow the user to read the articles when there is no internet connection in the phone, said Amanda Boss, Product Manager at Offline Chrome for Android.

Speaking more about the feature, Boss added “If a user has signed into Chrome, will also get relevant articles based on their browsing history.  To gauge relevant content, the Chrome will cache history as per user’s location and interests.

The feature can certainly prove helpful for making internet available in the remote areas with poor or no internet connectivity. Google has been pushing very hard to make internet available in developing countries like India. The one such effort is Chrome’s data saver which claims to saves up to 70 percent of your data. With data saver mode on, Chrome downloads the relevant content and made available alongside all the other downloaded content you have.

The previous year, Google launched a data saving app called Datally which gives you ways to control your data usage in a phone. Moreover, the app comes with features like guest mode, set daily data usage limit to keep a track and monitor your data usage, highlighting the unused or ideal apps that may be eating up your data, data usage history, and more.
