Introducing Finney: The Sirin Labs’ World’s First Blockchain Smartphone

The long-awaited world’s first Blockchain revolutionary smartphone is here. Switzerland-based Sirin LABS has unveiled the world’s first blockchain smartphone named Finney that will hit markets later this year.

Initially, Huawei rumored to be working on this futuristic concept but Sirin Labs, the company that developed SOLARIN, an ultra-secure mobile phone, has made it official and released the specification of the anticipated phone Finney.  The futuristic smartphone, Finney– named after Bitcoin pioneer Hal Finney, packs the latest specs you’d see on a smartphone in 2018. But that’s just half of the story.

For the development of FINNEY to have blockchain features, high-end security, features and a built-in “cold storage” crypto wallet, the company partnered with Foxconn International Holding (FIH) and raised $157.8 million during a campaign, boasting one of the largest crowd-sales.

Foxconn International Holding (FIH) is responsible for the manufacturing the devices in its facilities and production of this extraordinary device while SIRIN LABS is in charge of the development of blockchain features and the SIRIN OS.

Runs on an Android 8.1 Oreo-based custom operating system, Sirin OS, Finney devices are aimed at solving problems such as network scalability, payment speed, security, and privacy. Finney is designed to secure peer-to-peer resource sharing and use a built-in “cold-storage” crypto wallet, and distributed ledger consensus.

Powered by BlockShield technology by Sirin Labs, the Finney blockchain smartphone is complete “tamper proof” and comes with a dedicated physical security switch for wallet protection.

SIRIN LABS’ was founded in 2014 with the vision to become the world’s leader in secure open source consumer electronics. With the mass adoption of blockchain and crypto-currency, Finney smart device will offer a distributed, scalable, light-weight and create an independent blockchain network using a distributed ledger consensus mechanism.

Moreover, the FINNEY phone will pair Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, coupled with 128GB built-in storage and 6GB RAM and also packs a fast charging support battery of 3,280mAh. On the rear, you get a 12-megapixel f/1.8 lens with laser autofocus, while, on the front, you have an 8-megapixel, f/2.2 snapper with an 85-degree wide angle lens. Loaded with multi-layer cybersecurity, Finney sports a 6-inch display with an 18:9 aspect ratio, 402ppi, 1500:1 contrast ratio, fingerprint sensor, Bluetooth 5.0, cold storage wallet, NFC, and IP52 water-resistance.

Overall, that’s a pretty solid flagship phone priced at $999, looks premium with metallic frame, bezel-less display design and Gorilla Glass protection on the back.
