Google Now Allows People to Pay Utility Bills with Google Tez, To strengthen the services of its UPI-enabled digital payment app ‘Tez’, Search engine giant, Google India on Monday unveils a new feature that allows people to pay utility bills. This new feature will enable users to pay their water, mobile, electricity, DTH and other utility bills within seconds without any transaction charges.
According to a spokesperson for Google India, the app will include major companies like Reliance Energy, BSES, and DishTV, over 80 billers for private and public utility service providers across the country. The app will also send notifications when the bill arrives and users would be able to check whether they have paid the billed or not just by clicking the biller’s name on the app’s home screen.
Tez, a free mobile wallet in India is optimized to support “Bharat BillPay” system, which allows users to directly pay from their bank account securely without any need of opening a separate account or reload money in a wallet.
From transferring money, paying the utility bills to split a dinner bill with friends, make all small to big payments directly from the bank account with Tez within a second.
In order to make utility bill payments, users need to locate billers’ city or region and one can also search them by name. Following that, the user needs to enter the number related to his/her account to link it to the app. Once the account is linked, Tez would instantly fetch any available bills.
As a part of promotional offer, the brand has introduced a scratch card with up to Rs 1,000 for every new biller user paying this month. Tez, a simple and secure digital payment app is built on Indian government-supported UPI with the goal of making digital payments as easy as using cash.
