India is the second largest country in the world in telecom Sector giving services to more than 1 billion people .So today I am going you some facts about India’s Mobile history till now .
HISTORY
- · Exactly 21 years ago i.e. 30th july 1995, a telephone call was made. It changed the way we communicate forever and marshaled in a communication revolution in India.
- · The former Union Telecom Minister Sukh Ram and the Chief Minister of West Bengal Jyoti Basu of that time, spoke to each other using hand held mobile phones. It was the first phone call or I say phone call through mobile in India.
- · The call made in July 1995, between Writer's Building in Calcutta (now Kolkata) and Sanchar Bhavan in New Delhi was carried over Modi Telstra's Mobile Net service. That cellular call inaugurated Mobile Net service in Calcutta.
- · The mobile phone used during this conversation is non other than NOKIA .
NOW (PRESENT)
Since then Telecommunication sector in India has traveled a long way . At the end of May 2016 the total number of telephone connections in the country crossed the two billion approx. and billions of phone connections, overwhelming 1 billion connections were wireless or mobile.
Today many companies invested in telecommunication sector in India for the better services as well as profit. But in mobile manufacturing sector only few companies able to succeed and make a good stand in the international as well as in national market that are
