Bold Business Leaders: Failure is your best teacher

Bold Business Leaders understand that failures are truly your best teacher. There are many reasons this is the case, however the most important lesson you can learn is to learn how to deal with “temporary failures”. Here are some tips for Bold Business Leaders (BBL),

Every time you fail you learn

Every time you fail you grow

Every time you grow you learn

Get it Wrong to Get it Right. I have shared this concept with several clients and initially it scares them. However, if you are managing your risk correctly and you conduct appropriate research, then the rewards are endless. This can also be a great tactic to help with communication. For example, after listening to your client’s goals, pause and summarize what you think they mean. Then they can respond accordingly. This tactic is great when clients use words like “a lot”. For example, you can ask your client “What exactly does a lot mean to you”? This tactic allows you to get it wrong and then collect the correct information. This takes guts and confidence but in the end it will impact your conversation in a meaningful way.

Failure increases your empathy. Ask any successful person, how many times they have failed. Not only will they tell you how much the failure impacted their thinking and understanding of others, but how it humbled them and increased their empathy. Bold leaders understand that once you try, fail, get up and do it again – you get it. That means you understand that the swing of emotions you feel is part of the process. This will allow you to pay it forward as well.

Failing is required to be successful. As you develop yourself and your business, you will look back and appreciate all the attempts you made before you became ‘successful’.  In fact, practice really does make one develop further. The more you fail, the more you become an amazing leader. Not only can you mentor those that are in the process of failing, but a Bold Business leader can inspire them to stand up and keep going.

Ultimately, life experiences include both failures and success. Both are opportunities to grow, learn and thrive. Be proud of your cuts and bruises, they make you who you are and they show grit and confidence. Please let us know what you think!
