I sighed, as I switched of my log and got ready to meet Dexle. But the entry door indicated that there were two Vorians on the other side.

As the door slid open, I noted that Dexle’s companion does not wear a Camola. Once Manning my trusty robot now calibrated for Vorian presence provided them with he customary drink, the companion got up and introduced himself as Tilden, the president of Vora.

This addition of a new variable into the already complex situation I am caught up in heightened my sense of foreboding. Tilden then asked in a high raspy voice ” Have you read the documents share?”

After viewing my brief nod he continued, ” Now that you understand Vora’s social structure and demographic makeup, I would like to delve a little deeper into a few more details. Number 1 is this meeting with the MPPA is just the first in a series of meetings. Just yesterday I got the final confirmation from the 14 Class-B worlds that we would like to call a conclave and as MPPA’s Rule states it takes confirmation of 25% of the member states to call a conclave and we are comfortably over that. We also believe that our Dna Rewriting technology should be shared with all the other Planets and that we should be allowed to do so as well”

Now all the pieces fit together perfectly. DNA re-writing holds high sales potential for many f the current breed of Class B planets and will be in more demand once Class-C planets are opened up for settlement. With the correct market positioning, Vora has a huge export opportunity for it’s DNA rewriting techniques. Already with the maturing of Class-A planets Earth was losing trade and in turn money to the other planets. This kind of skill based export will make Vora one of the richest planets in the galaxy and this will not be well-liked by Earth. Already Earth because of it’s hold on MPPA has been putting up economic rules and regulations which will stop it losing it’s trade. This has already lead to a grumble within planets. Earth has been doing all it can over the last 2 decades to make sure this quiet grumble doesn’t become a chorus. But a conclave would do just that. Now, I understood this request for changing the definition of man was but a ruse to get every planet into the same room. Now that Vora’s true intentions are known I replied: ” I understand Sir president and I will communicate the same to the delegation.”

” Earth Vola and human galaxy must come together to make this happen” he continued. “Once DNA re-writing is allowed across the galaxy the human species will know replicate and colonize more planets than ever thought possible. It is time that we allow Science to fasten human progress. Earth should no longer be the guardian of the old rules created when we were just a feral species occupying a single world. “

“It was those Feral creatures which created the cosmos traveler” I replied, ” Once we start degrading any rules which we have as old-fashioned then we are entering a slippery slope. The 50-year-old ban of Nuclear missiles has made sure that even if wars happen between colonies it doesn’t lead to radioactive materials settling all over the planet. Can we call this rule old-fashioned? Laws, rules and regulations are in place for a reason.”

He looked taken aback and abruptly got up. ” Whilst you went through our documents, I believe you did not understand our cultural mores. You are in the presence of a true Vorian and you have the honor of being the first earthling to talk to a true Voraian in this galaxy’s history. We are to be spoken to with respect befitting our position in the evolutionary hierarchy.” and he moved towards the exit.

” I talk to you like an equal born human Being Sir.” I replied immediately regretting these words as it will needlessly antagonize the Vorian.

He looked at me as he leaving and said, ” Let’s meet when the convention arrives. Until then think over what being a human actually means.”
