the reasons why i will never watch 13 reasons why

13 reasons why is something i will never watch. I don't want to engage myself in something so sick just to be able to participate in discussions with my friends. I believe this series glamorizes suicide. as a lil introduction if you have never heard of this series 13 Reasons Why,is an drama about a teenage girls’s Suicide and her reasons for doing so ( there are 13 episodes and each is for her reasons  for committing suicide). So here is what just by googling this it came up with of 13 reasons why is inaccurate  and promotes suicide: 1. Nobody else is responsible for our mental health: While the actions of other do affect us, the responsibility for how we respond is ours.
2. Thirteen Reasons Why is a suicide revenge fantasy: Killing yourself does not get you the things you want from others. It’s too late for you. You’re dead, period. Gone.
3. Mental Health Issues — and the help that's available — are barely discussed: There are people who can help if things have become so painful you’re considering suicide. Fox says the show never gets into the available resources.
4. Girls are depicted as dis empowered: The series shows girls as helpless victims of male cruelty. Fox would have like to have seen the writers show some outrage over others’ behavior instead of just showing how it hurts Hannah.
5. The suicide scene is cause for outrage: In the book the series is based on, Hannah kills herself with pills. On TV, her death via razor blades is graphic, dramatically amped-up for effect. Fox says the scene provides a step-by-step set of instructions for a teen on how to kill herself.
6. Don’t talk about the contents of the suicide note, if there is one. ( sensitivuty people)
  • Don’t describe the suicide method.
  • Report suicide as a public health issue.
  • Don’t speculate why the person might have done it.
  • Don’t quote or interview police or first responders about the causes of suicide.
  • Describe the suicide as “died by suicide” or “completed” or “killed him/herself”
I voluntary watched one clip of this series and i can openly say that i have never seen anything so graphic. when she's laying there in the bath slitting here wrists did the producers not think how triggering it would be for other people with mental health issues or people who faint at the sight of blood. there are just some things you don't because you have to acknowledge the welfare of other people.

where are the suicide hotline links at any point of any episode?? where is there a point where they show that help is actually out there if you need it?
why is it suddenly okay to show that suicide is okay?

because its not it takes away our mothers, our fathers, our brothers and sister, our friends and the people we live. its really not okay to expose someones death in the way they have. someone commits suicide so we are going to show awareness by making such a graphic film. no. awareness is showing that people are not alone and not blaming people for other peoples death and leading to another life lost, awareness is showing there is help available. awareness is showing that it' okay to struggle. awareness is showing that your life is important.

it makes suicide seem like the first opinion out and not the last.

i really don' think that's okay and i know the writers of this series will forever defend themselves over the backlash of comments and resources they have had to hear but i just feel like this is just a series to make money. this is not about showing talking about mental health is okay, its about Netflix drawing in more viewers and allowing the writers to be multimillionaires and gong onto their luxury holidays in their private yacht in the Caribbean, whilst someone relative  lying there and there death could of been prevented instead of justified.

i don't want to watch a film that will destroy everything I've come this far to achieve. i don't want to summit myself to watching someone be tormented. I don't want to watch something which justifies itself. I want to watch something that shows that it's okay to struggle, that suicide is not beautiful and magical. I want to watch something that shows the aftermaths of what happens. i want to show that suicide affects more than one person.

I don't want to watch something that will allow my mind to create a deeper black hole.
