2018 Chevy Colorado Changes, Release Date

The latest 2018 Chevy Colorado seems like a very decent offering in the midsize truck segment. While it doesn’t come with the most luxurious cabin or the best off-road capabilities, the Colorado is still a good deal. To ensure that, the American manufacturer has improved its towing capability as well as its fuel efficiency and handling.

Furthermore, the Colorado is also somewhat smaller than its competitors, which makes it more attractive to the traditional SUV lovers. With its improved maneuverability and a new diesel engine, this truck looks more than capable of challenging the Toyota Tacoma.

2018 Chevy Colorado – Mixture of Traditional SUV and Pickup Styles

Outside, the 2018 Chevy Colorado looks like a handsome mixture of traditional SUV and pickup styles. It proudly boasts its midsize-pickup origins and does nothing to make itself more menacing or falsely rugged. Instead, it features a plethora of smooth lines and curves, which create a stylish visual treat. As opposed to the previous model, the 2018 edition brings a few changes that make an impact on the overall look. These include modified front and rear bumpers, increased wheel arches, and a slightly redesigned hood scoop.

We can also see the implementation of the newest CornerStep rear bumper, which allows for a much easier bed access. Elsewhere, there are slightly revamped LED spotlights and a buttress-style light bar placed in the bed. In general, it seems that Chevy has finally succeeded in hitting that sweet spot between SUV class and pick up ruggedness. The Colorado is a handsome vehicle that will surely make some heads turn.

Interior Design and Equipment

Just like on the outside, the 2018 Chevy Colorado tries to walk a delicate line between an SUV and a pickup, when it comes to its interior. Fortunately, it succeeds with flying colors. Thanks to the quality materials, a quiet cabin, and comfortable seats, the Colorado succeeds in appealing to the SUV lovers.

On the other hand, it also manages to feel rugged and sturdy too. It achieves that thanks to the implementation of tough plastics, a foldable rear seat, and durable seat upholstery. Even though the Colorado is definitely not among the biggest models on the market, it still manages to offer a fairly decent amount of passenger room as well as plenty of cargo room. In the tech department, it also doesn’t disappoint, with an 8-inch touchscreen, cruise control, Apple CarPlay, and so on.

Engines, Specs, and Performance of the 2018 Chevy Colorado

The upcoming 2018 Chevy Colorado features a selection of 3 engines. Starting from the standard one, we have a 2.5-liter inline-4, with 200 hp, 191 lb-ft of torque, and an EPA of 20/26 mpg (2WD) and 19/24 (AWD).

The finall one is a 2.8-liter turbodiesel inline-4, which supplies the 2018 Chevy Colorado with 181 hp and 369 lb-ft, along with an EPA of 20/28 mpg. While the new V6 engine comes paired with an 8-speed automatic, the other two engines come with either a 6-speed manual or an automatic transmission.
