2018 Hyundai Tucson Redesign, Specs, Price

Even though the 2018 Hyundai Tucson doesn’t rank among the top-of-the-line models, it is still an economical and compact crossover SUV. It is a well-equipped, enjoyable model that benefits from a number of subtle improvements. Some of these include a few exterior changes, as well as new engine options.

However, despite Hyundai’s attempts to redefine the Tucson’s look and make it more sporty, this model still preserves that traditional SUV look. Thanks to the improved features and an affordable price, the Tucson looks like a strong contender, one that aims to challenge the Subaru Forester and the Ford Escape.

2018 Hyundai Tucson – Exterior Look, Design and Updates

From the first look, it is obvious that the Korean manufacturer wants to turn the Tucson into a more aggressive and sporty looking SUV. As opposed to the previous models, the 2018 Hyundai Tucson features more sharp edges and aggressive touches. Similarly to the Hyundai Santa Fe, the Tucson will sport flowing lines, a large grille and LED-accented headlights.

Some of the most notable upgrades will be seen in the front of the vehicle. For example, there will be a redesigned trapezoidal grille, which will blend in with the headlights far more smoothly. It is also worth noting that the Tucson will use a strengthened chassis as well, which will offer enhanced stability and safety. Elsewhere, we will see 19-inch alloy wheels and slightly redesigned headlights and taillights.

Interior Styling, Equipment and Tech

The interior of the 2018 Hyundai Tucson will not dazzle anyone, that’s for sure. However, it will offer quite a lot for its price. As we’ve already mentioned, Hyundai’s aim is not to offer something extravagant, but instead something economical and reliable. The Tucson’s interior is a perfect example of simplicity done right.

In the front of the cabin, a very simple and convenient dashboard dominates the view, along with big vents and well-organized buttons and knobs. Even though the Tucson is not a big SUV, it will still offer plenty of headroom, legroom and cargo room. The amount of available space, combined with adjustable seats, will ensure plenty of comfort for both the driver and the passengers. Tech-wise, the Tucson will offer a little bit of everything.

The most notable tech features will include an 8-inch touchscreen display, an 8-speaker audio system, Bluetooth, the Bluelink smartphone interface, and a bevy of safety measures.

Engine Output of the 2018 Hyundai Tucson

When it comes to the engine options for the 2018 Hyundai Tucson, we will see three of them. For starters, there will be a 2.0-liter inline 4 engine, with 164 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque. This engine will come paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The EPA rating will be 23/30 mpg with an FWD and 21/26 with an AWD.

Next up, we will see a 1.6-liter turbocharged inline 4, with 175 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. The Tucson will go from 0 to 62 mph in 7.9 seconds and have an EPA of 28/27 mpg. Lastly, there will also be an induction electric motor, with 134 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque.

Availability and Affordability

According to the latest info, the 2018 Hyundai Tucson will be most likely released during the 4th quarter of 2017. The base model will sell for $23.600, while the premium model will reach a price of $35.000.
