2018 BMW 2-Series Photos and Info

The newest 2018 BMW 2-Series is a breath of fresh air as the automaker focuses on aesthetic updates that include a new set of peepers. The revamped 2018 BMW 2-Series comes with new headlights featuring more hexagonal running lights. Apparently, this is the easiest way of spotting the new 2-Series on the road. Its front section will also receive slightly bigger kidney grilles, plus the car’s air intakes are a bit wider. On the other end, exterior changes are limited to fresh paint colors—including one shade of orange and two of blue. It will grace the showrooms with some new wheels as well.

2018 BMW 2-Series – Design Features

The 2018 BMW 2-Series will showcase a redesigned dashboard with adjusted climate vents. It comes with the now-standard Sports Line that adds contrast stitching throughout the 2-Series range. The manufacturer has also revised the center console and center stack with new cup-holder lid and gloss black trim.

Inside the 2018 BMW 2-Series, we are likely to get new Dakota Leather seats in Cognac as well as Black and Oyster SensaTec available with the Luxury package. It is equipped with upgraded infotainment system highlighting the latest iDrive 6.0 with a 6.6-inch display. Its Voice Control Function has also been improved, and now recognizes basic instructions and phrases.

Exterior Design

While there are no significant upgrades to major body panels, a tweaked front fascia and redesigned headlights create a whole new impression. The headlight surround comes as standard with open LEDs that substitute last year’s closed circular units. The new 2018 BMW 2-Series gaze appears locked in with an inclined stripe across the top, and now the 230i will feature standard LED front fog lights.

The BMW has enlarged the side intakes and added two sweeping bars to the center and uppermost edges. These adjustments aim at creating a wider and more planted-looking front end. The only visible change to the rear is the revamped LED tail lamps that now come as standard.

Other exterior adjustments include paint and wheels. The 230i standard spec receives 17-inch double-spoke wheels along with all-season run-flat tires. Conversely, the M240i will stand on 18-inch M double-spoke wheels and high-performance tires. The M Sports package for the 230i edition will feature lightweight 18-inch wheels and all-season tires.

Engine and Transmission

The 230i version features a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four that churns out 248 horsepower and 258 pounds-feet of torque. On the other hand, the M240i will get a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six that produces 335 horsepower and 369 pounds-feet of torque. The latter is available from 1520-4500 rpm.

The two distinctive engines come furnished with twin-scroll turbos, variable intake-valve lift, direct injection, and variable valve timing. The M240i version for the previous year hit 60 mph mark in just 4.3 seconds in our testing. For the new edition, BMW states that it will run to 155 mph.

Price and Release Date

The 2018 BMW 2-Series is likely to touch the showrooms in July of the calendar year 2018. Its price will start at around $35,000.
