2018 Honda Accord Sedan New Spy Photos and Latest News

The reports have surfaced that the revamped 2018 Honda Accord Sedan brings a new design language coupled with a ton of changes that will rocket the sales once again. This model will introduce a fresh platform along with a new turbocharged engine. The next-generation 2018 Accord sedan is in its tenth generation, and engineers and designers plan to up the style game with an extended, lower, broader and sleeker profile.

2018 Accord sedan – Platform and Design

The new 2018 Accord sedan shares a similar platform with the newest Civic and CR-V editions. Spy photos have emerged, and it is now certain that the redesigned Accord retains its setup of struts in the front and a multi-link rear. Its headlights and grille will also be similar to those highlighted on the smaller Honda models. The new edition Accord also sports a slanting rear window that trails into a short decklid and a rakish, fastback-like greenhouse. It has wide front lights that trail towards the grille. Its LED daytime running lights also stream from the corners downward. The grille itself is much bigger, and it is topped by a chrome bar with the Honda logo square at the center.

Interior Design

The interior segment of the revamped 2018 Accord sedan borrows the inspiration from the Civic. It highlights compact angular design themes, and its interior is somewhat wider to enhance the overall comfort. Furthermore, the Honda Sensing active safety technology is a key tech feature that graces the inside of the next-generation Honda edition. That said, the new sedan remains a safe and convenient family car. It also gets upgraded with several safety features, such as automatic braking, forward collision warning, active lane-keeping and adaptive cruise control. These reliable safety features help the redesigned Accord to stay competitive in its market category.

Powertrain Options

The refurbished 2018 Accord sedan is likely to utilize a turbocharged 1.5-liter four cylinder unit used to power up the CR-V editions. This base engine produces up to 200 horsepower and comes equipped with a standard six-speed manual transmission alongside an optional variable automatic CVT. The update, however, begs a lot of questions as recent reports have emerged that the Accord may nix its V-6 unit in favor of a turbocharged four. The engine is probably another edition of the Civic Type R’s 2-liter unit, which highlights less performance-oriented tuning with horsepower ranging somewhere between 270 and 280.

Expected Release Date, MSRP and Competitors

The 2018 Accord sedan is likely to grace the dealership towards the end of this year. It probably goes on sale at the start of next year. Its price tag rises slightly from the incumbent model. The base model will have MSRP of $23,330 whereas higher trim levels may hit the $30,000 mark.

Finally, the upcoming Accord will compete with the likes of Ford Fusion, Chevrolet Malibu, Toyota Camry, Hyundai Sonata, and the Kia Optima.
