A prototype of the 2018 BMW Z4 has been Spotted undergoing testing in Germany. Apparently, the BMW has been the top priority for many drivers, especially those consumers looking for a high-performance small sports car. The Z4 model has been one of the top-selling roadsters not only in Germany but also in the global market. Probably, this is the reason why the automaker is planning to release it for the worldwide auto market. The BMW has resorted to maintaining their initial branding. The vehicle is going to debut in three different versions including 28i, 35i and 35is, each bringing a unique performance and styling.
2018 BMW Z4 – Exterior Design
The upcoming 2018 BMW Z4 is a 2-passenger roadster convertible featuring a long hood and a long tail design like those of contemporary sport cars. The car is built under codename G29 and is expected to take on the likes of Porsche 718 Boxter. However, the auto designer is going to ditch the hard-top for a lighter and accommodative fabric roof. Other chassis components include a Rear axle and five-link rear suspension borrowed from the M3 and M4. Although the car appears quite longer than its predecessor, it still maintains the short rear deck. These include LED headlamps, aggressive bumper, and grille as well as revised fog lights. It boasts of splendid aerodynamic power, thanks to its light body featuring carbon and also high strength materials. The rear end further gets a sporty dual exhaust system. It rides on flat aluminum alloy tires.
Interior and High-Tech Features
Getting inside the car, the consumers gets almost every cabin option you have imagined of. The 2018 BMW Z4 features heated power-operated front seats and power lumbar support. Most of the interior cabin section adopts fine leather upholstery which is extended to the dashboard. The infotainment system has been revised to include a wider touchscreen display screen. Other standard interior features are multi-zone automatic climate control, modern air conditioning system, smartphone integration with CarPlay and Android Auto, satellite navigation system and also Wi-Fi connectivity. There are also front door pockets and cup holders. Among the safety and driver assistance features are 4-wheel ABS system, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking system, rear parking sensors, premium safety belts and airbags, blind-spot monitoring system, lane-departure warning system and others.
2018 BMW Z4 – Engine and Performance
All the three trim levels will be offered with turbocharged engines. The base 28i will be powered by a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder motor which is good for about 240 horsepower. It will be mated to a standard 6-speed manual transmission system. The 35i and 35is gets a six-cylinder 3.0-liter V6 engine that will generate at least 300 horsepower that delivers up to about 335 horsepower and 340 lb-ft of torque. They all gets 7-speed automatic (double-clutch) transmission system.
2018 BMW Z4 – Market Release and Price
Although BMW has not communicated the official information on the release date, we are expecting the new Z4 to debut in the course of next year. The 2018 BMW Z4 will go for about 28i $50,300 while the BMW Z4 35i and BMW Z4 35is will be offered for $67,000 and $75,000 respectively.
