#QueenNetworkWY

I had the Idea of setting up a Book Club for women of colour in my local area. I had a look around to see if a book club like this already existed...nothing. So, I thought I'd see if I could join women at the local black feminist space with the view of networking and trying to promote the idea of the book club ...nothing! I searched twitter, google, Instagram etc etc. I did find the Leeds University Black Feminist Society but nothing outside of the academic environment for women of colour in the West Yorkshire area.

I decided I would attempt to start a group myself, I wanted to create something where creative women of colour in the Leeds & Bradford area (for a start) could be brought together and enable the free expression of ideas, passions and histories.

I was able to get in contact with Amber Lascelles from the Leeds University Black Feminist Society, who was brilliant and gave me a shout out on the group page, from this I was able to reach out to a few ladies. This has now led on to #QueenNetworkWY:

Check us out and spread the word, the group is new and is still in the initial stages of gathering interest and brainstorming ideas for future events, but we have already decided that our first event will be a movie evening in central Leeds. Check out the site for more details 😊😊😊
