High end Vs. Drugstore

Makeup can be seriously expensive, and it can be hard to find cheaper alternatives that work as well as high end products. Well, I’ve put together a battle of the beauty products to see if high end really is best.

Primer – Makeup Forever Vs L’Oreal

Primer is the base for makeup, and for your makeup to really look good and last long, finding the right primer is key. The Makeup Forever Primer is a dupe of the old Kiko primer and will help your makeup last for the longest time.

There’s really no comparison between the Makeup Forever primer and the L’Oreal infallible primer. Unlike the Makeup Forever primer, it leaves your face greasy before you’ve even applied anything else and is terrible at holding any other product. Even though it’s cheaper, it’s really not worth buying this primer.

Foundation – Lacome Vs L’Oreal

The Lacome Teint Idole Ultra 24h ffoundation is my holy grail product, like nothing honestly beats this. Coverage for this foundation is quite good with minimal product and if you’re going for that fully beat look your foundation won’t look cakey at all. The thing I love the most about this foundation is the fact that its matte. Personally, I don’t like having to touch up my makeup often so this product is great for a long lasting look that doesn’t get oily quickly. For 30ml at £27 this foundation is a bit pricey but definitely worth it.

The L’Oreal true match foundation is a great cheap alternative. The coverage for this foundation is generally really good and it doesn’t take much to achieve  a full coverage look. You will need to touch up a bit more than if you were using the Lancome foundation, but for £9.99 it’s a bargain.

Concealer – Nars Vs La Girl

The Nars radiant creamy concealer is quite expensive considering its a concealer with little product in the tube. However when using this product you begin to realise why it’s priced this way. The concealer truly lives up to its name and is honestly soo creamy and applies smoothly onto the skin. It blends easily and leaves you with a naturally glowy, yet highlighted finish; so you could say it’s worth the price.

Everyone’s favourite La Girl Pro conceal is an amazing alternative for a fraction of the price. Coverage for this concealer is great and it’s perfect for concealing/highlighting. It may sometimes leave you looking a bit cakey, and it doesn’t have as much of a natural glow compared to the Nars concealer, but with a bit of extra blending you’ll be fine.

Setting Spray – Urban Decay Vs NYX

Setting spray is essential if you wont your makeup to really last for the longest time, so finding the right one is important. Everyone’s pretty much gone on and on about the Urban Decay spray, and with good reason. Once you apply this setting spray alongside a good foundation, primer and setting powder – I’m telling you now, your makeup isn’t going anywhere at all.

The NYX setting spray does its job very well and even though it doesn’t keep your makeup set for as long as the Urban Decay spray does, it’s  good alternative at a cheaper price.

Well I hope this was useful and I think you can definitely see that you can do beauty on a budget and still really good.
