Pakistan and… Hope?

Pakistan And… Hope?

Recent political changes in the country have taken us all by storm.

However, what’s been troubling hasn’t been the (hopefully positive) change.

It has been the reactions to these changes.

Again, we have our Great Guns of Negativity loaded and ready to fire.
Again, we’re skeptical.
Again, we’re full of the worst of comments.

People who did not vote since 1947 came out to vote for the first time during these most recent elections.
Shouldn’t this be hope enough?

For the first time since 1947, a man spoke some sensible things to the general public in his first address as Prime Minister.
Shouldn’t this be hope enough?

Work on actual problems has begun in the country that ranks 117 out of 180 countries in the Corruption Perception Index.
For example, corruption is being targeted.
Shouldn’t this be hope enough?

The nation has begun dealing with issues as wide-ranging as the environment, tourism and even animal rights.
Shouldn’t this be hope enough?

People who are actually qualified for specific positions are being appointed to those positions.
Shouldn’t this be hope enough?

We have actual goals and targets being laid out for us.
Shouldn’t this be hope enough?

Really, though.

Isn’t it time we had hope?
