“Nineteenth - Thoughts of Life; Greed”

All praises to Allah Swt, I have turned a year older today.

Life, a journey.
Things have already been planned for me.
My life may not be going to be the way I planned but it is exactly the way Allah SWT has planned.

Throughout my years, there are many things I want in life. Basically my needs and wants. As humans, our needs are limited and our wants are unlimited. For instance, what are the needs in life? Every needs are kept to the minimum such as clothes, shelter and clothing.

I thanked Allah SWT for the essentials that has given to me till date. For every duaa made, I believe that the almighty has answered us based on our needs. At times, human may not find it fair and had always bring up the question of “ Why not this and Why not that” . But has one ever reflect those questions on themselves?

Greed, is what will take over an individual. When one has more than what they need, they will tend to be more greedy and selfish - which will eventually lets one to commit sins. I too ever thought the same thing as what others might think but as time passed, the answers are more clearer and I have a better understanding of my needs and wants.

I came across an article and I thought it would be great to share it here.

Islam and Greed: Disadvantages of Greed (Selfishness and Islam)
Greed enslaves man and causes him grief. The greedy cares only for collecting fortunes without stopping at any limit. Whenever he achieves a goal, he works for achieving another and, so, he becomes the slave of avidity until death strikes him. He, also, exerts laborious efforts for collecting riches, but he is the less beneficiary. He tires for gaining fortunes, but death comes unexpectedly upon him to deprive him of enjoying that fortune. The heirs, then, enjoy his fortune very easily. Furthermore, greed takes to the slips of sinful matters that produce problematic situations in the world to come. It also hinders from doing charity.
Treatment of Greed according to Imam Jafar Sadiq (as), "I guarantee for the moderate that he will not see poverty."

In life, things are beautifully planned, be it the struggles or burden. As the creation of the almighty, we have to go through the phases in life as He will not burden a soul more than what it can’t bear. I have learnt a lot of things as I turn nineteenth. A lot of things happened and I believe that the only one who is listening is Allah SWT, and He will always be with me everywhere and anywhere I go. In life, it is the planning of the my afterlife - as the world is temporary and surely judgement day will happened, where a soul have no power to do anything for another soul.

I may not have known that I have taken things for granted and I may be selfish without me realising. As humans, we will always have desire over things. However, I never wanted myself to commit such greed and be selfish towards other creation of Allah SWT.
For all the needs and wants given in life, there is only one purpose, to achieve real happiness. Hence, problems and struggles are definitely not permanent for the world is not a resting place, but a testing place.

Thank you Allah for another year.
Thank you my love for adding on to my happiness.
And thank you my family for making things happen.

Happiest 19th Birthday to me.
