How to Revive an Old Couch?

foam seat cushion replacement
Couches are the most used things in the living room. Lively children, frisking pets, dropped food and cloth rubbing on Sofa fabric leave a sofa stained, worn and drooping. You can give your sofa a new look by reupholstering. If the frame of your sofa is in good condition, it can get a new life with a few changes. Foam seat cushion replacement is also an easy option to grab a new look of your sofa.

Thorough Cleaning

One of the most common methods of revamping a fresh appearance to an old sofa is to clean it thoroughly. Various carpet-cleaning machines have upholstery attachments that make the cleaning of sofa easier. The second option is of a handheld steam cleaner. These devices use gusts of steam to exterminate bacteria, filth, stains, and allergens. It’s best to hire professional services if your couch is an antique or of silk. However, most fabrics are benign for DIY cleaning. Use a cleaning formula, which is according to package directions. For using steam cleaner or upholstery, follow the guidelines of the manufacturer.

Add Color with Throw Pillows

After cleaning the couch, there is only need to add a few touches of color to give it a new, fresh look. Throw pillows can perk up your couch and can give your decorating style diversity. For most decorating styles, floral prints are traditional while wool pillows suit a country style couch. If you have a neutral color scheme in your living room, avoid dullness with bright throw pillows. For an extra touch of color and for warmth on icy evenings, place a throw blanket over the back of the couch.

Perk the Cushions Up

Your sofa looks old and worn due to drooping seat cushions. You can perk the cushion up with foam seat cushion replacement or a little extra padding. Comb for zippers at the back of the seat cushions. Remove the old foam inserts and take one to an upholstery shop to buy a new one of the same sizes. If your cushions are not of foam but are of batting or feather, add a handful of new batting to fill in the shapeless areas.

Change Slipcovers

A slipcover instantly changes your couch into something new. Slipcovers come in many different colors and designs. Choose one that balances your living room and cheers you up when you see it.  However, it is difficult to get a good look with unfitted fabric, if you buy a low-priced, cotton couch covers. The slipcovers that are fitted and stretchy and are close to the size of your sofa look much shipshape and stylish. Wedge the slipcover deeply between the couch back and the upholstery custom cushions to keep it in place. Then hook the fabric by pushing it under the front edge of the seat cushion.

Change Sofa Legs

If you want to make your sofa more traditional or more custom looking, just add new legs. You can purchase sofa legs in different styles and sizes.
