The First Solar Panel Road in the World

We all know that for the past several years now, many Solar panel inventors are creating the best units for the benefit of millions of consumers worldwide. Of course, this kind of development is truly advantage because it eases up the burden of paying costly electricity bills. Did you know that there is already a road that depends on using solar energy from the sunlight?

In 2016, France opened the first Solar Panel Road in the world and located in a village in Normandy, as reported on the news online.  According to French Ecology Minister Segolene Royal, the almost 1 kilometer road in Tourouvre-au-perche can generate huge amount of electricity from the sun that can light up the street lights efficiently.

Because the almost 30,000-square feet solar panels are positioned on the main road, they covered them with powerful silicon-based resin to make sure they will not break even when heavy vehicles passed on the road. With the overall expense that reached about $5.2 million, the Ecology Minister is evaluating the performance of the panels and might consider an expansion later on.

The company that installed these expensive panels is Colas and they are continuously monitoring the effectives compared to the existing conventional solar panels on the market.
