EL CHIRINGUITO | RESTAURANT & BEACH CLUB

There is nothing like being on holiday in Dubai, at a high-end, luxury pad with an exclusive Restaurant and bar to unwind at. This relaxing venue in The Palm, Dubai, situated on the edge of Eastern crescent, is a refreshing example of the works of Anarchitectdesign practice.
Their initiative to produce a stylish design that remains associated with the original Es Cavallet Ibizan restaurant and Beach club, formed this exotic accommodation into a number of divisions that house a variety of essential and aesthetically impressive amenities. The central space is allocated for the open-restaurant structure that also supports the kitchen, alongside the new upper entrance and lounge garden, and the connection to the lower pool deck and beach front. Anarchitect, seized the change to embrace the existing landscape and its tropical, open environment, providing guests with that Balearic, carefree atmosphere and infinite comfort that comes with this luring escape.
Situated amongst Palm’s private beach, El Chiringuito, was cleverly constructed in the central district of The Palm, allowing for easy access by both boat and car, whilst managing to be surrounded by the sea and confined away from the chaotic mainland city of Dubai for a non-disruptive getaway.
It’s not ideal to declare this venue a ‘building’ because it is not. In fact, the lack of closure and privacy go against that statement entirely. On the contrary, this architectural form of various heights and sizes, perfectly assembled to align the horizon and its sight lines, benefit guests with a complete 360° view of the outstanding scenery. The architects have managed to create a sort of high-end shelter for visitors, that naturally joins together, whilst simultaneously allowing for enough exposure to meet the eye and a secure, encased architectural configuration to assure protection from the city’s climate.
Having said that, the design also administers the joys of summer and contributes towards this, through sun blazed patios with lounging sofa beds, bi-fold shutters for shade and wind protection, spaced out bamboo and pergola slat roofs that partially cover the seating areas and let the sun rays seep through the gaps, creating perfectly straight-lined shadows, and of course an implemented swimming pool to cool down in. All these elements merge together freely for an all-inclusive experience.
Coming through the main entrance, guests can see beyond the restaurant, to the DJ and the open-beach, right to where the chefs are serving meals on the glass fronted kitchen. This was done to enhance an engaging communication between guests and staff, day and night, during restaurant hours and nightly weekend hours when the place becomes a club.
Materials chosen for this venue were crucial, due to the climate and the affects that occur from the surroundings of nature. The exterior decking and allocated seating platforms are matte-sealed, Solid Teak timber and the concrete walls are finished in a soft textured-render. The overall structure of the beach venue is made from a GI steel sub-frame construction and is cladded with treated timber and an aged paint finish. A weather proof pitched-roof covers the main parts of the restaurant and is finished with a synthetic recyclable thatch for better protection against the climate.
Bespoke furniture was made specifically for the El Chiringuito restaurant and was made in East Asia using kiln-dried solid teak, whilst the lighting feature above the bar is made using selectively designed bamboo.
Other natural features include rope wrapped columns, white hung blossoms from white painted timber beams and both existing and newly planted vegetation, that is emerged within the space for an authentic demonstration of the outdoor-indoor setting.
So, who’s ready to sunbathe in Dubai?
