Unfortunately, three soldiers have been martyred in fidayeen attack at an Army camp in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara. According to the reports from the IANS, which is published in the First Post, the assault on the army camp, which is 120 kilometres from Srinagar, was a fidayeen or a suicide attack.
Defence Ministry Spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia told IANS: “Fidayeen terrorists attacked the Panzgam army camp close to the Line of Control (LoC) (at) around 4.30 am.” Two terrorists have also been killed in the attack on the Army base located close to the Line of Control (LoC).
Union minister M Venkaiah Naidu had told reporters in New Delhi: “I don’t want to make any comments and complicate the situation. Jammu and Kashmir government has to take all the steps to effectively counter all the terrorist and separatist activities and also anti-national activities inspired by our neighbour.”
Last year in September, 19 soldiers were killed when terrorists attacked an Army brigade headquarters in Uri.
