The Delhi University student, Gurmehar Kaur whose Social Media campaign about war and Pakistan recently went viral, claimed on Sunday that she got Rape Threats from ABVP. She is the daughter of Kargil war hero and martyr Captain Mandeep Singh. The Lady Sri Ram College student said she got a barrage of hate messages over her stand on the issue.

Under her statement, she made she said, “I have been getting a lot of threats on social media. I think it is very scary when people threaten you with violence or with Rape.  Giving rape threats “in the name of nationalism” is not right.”  

She got appreciation and support after her post on social media including from Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal. A 140-word Facebook post and a picture that she posted went viral just after some hours. In the picture she held a placard that read:

“I am a student from Delhi University. I am not afraid of ABVP. I am not alone. Every student of India is with me. #StudentsAgainstABVP”.

However, she also got hate messages to her post even the ugly abuse. Kaur’s Facebook post so far has 2,100 reactions, 3,456 shares and 542 comments. She claimed she got rape threats for being an anti-nationalist. She said it is scary when people threaten you with violence or with rape.
