HOW SMART ARE YOU CHALLENGE [FULL REVIEW]



Meet David Oluwatobiloba Adeyemi who is a 400 level student of Microbiology, Ajayi Crowther University, Tush Awards 2017 “Most Outstanding Student in Nigeria” and “Nigerian Heritage Icon Ambassador of Youth”
5 months ago he was given a Pro-National award in recognition for his pro-Nigeria Initiative and contribution to the nation building by developing an anti-suicide bombing device for security operatives called “Counter-Terrorism Z”.

As an Ambassador for Youth, he was compelled to give back to his institution as well as the students by organizing an educational oriented program which was part of his National Initiatives. A platform for the purpose of unlocking the creative, aptitude, verbal and numerical intelligence of its participants. Likewise urging them to create solution pathways to national and international challenges in the areas of (Science, Technology, Engineering, Economy, Arts, Mathematics, and Environment). He decided to call it the “How Smart Are You Challenge”?

This challenge was created to serve as a platform for encouraging and motivating students in respective of their levels or courses that bad grades or not being the top in class doesn’t mean the end of the world. They have the ability to solve trivial world problems as well as the ability to provide solution pathways to problems around them using just their brains and nothing else.

The “How Smart Are You Challenge” consist of two phases namely;

The Screening Phase whereby students with creative and innovative ideas are questioned by judges about their personality, interests, skills, philosophy, ideology, and contributions to their society. They would be asked what global or societal challenge interests them and what solution pathway do they have to solve such a problem. Candidates with impressive and logical replies will automatically qualify for the final round. (17th March 2018)
The Test Phase where the finalists will have to talk more about their solutions to the judges and representatives as well as be given aptitude and IQ related test questions to solve. (24th March 2018)

The Smart Test which comprises of logical IQ questions was conducted for the 18 Smart at exactly 12:00 PM 24th March 2017. Each contestant was given 50 questions to solve within the time frame of 30minutes.
During the course of the event, a social media contest was conducted and interested audience where told to take a picture anywhere around the auditorium follow and Tag IG: @Innovative_david and MTN of which the post with the highest likes gets a cash price of #5,000
The 8 Idea fair finalists were given 5 minutes each to give a short presentation about their ideas asked questions from the judges and students. They were graded based on Audibility, Appearance, Idea Viability and Timing.
After the copulation of the results of the Idea Fair and IQ test, the result is as follows:

The idea of the Year: Echefu Fredrick 200l Economics
1st Runner Up: Idiagbor Ogochukwu 200l Law
2nd Runner Up: Funso Alao Babajide FYP Law
Most Outstanding Female Student:  Moses Josephine 300l Economics

Smart Test:
1st Position: Ephraim Samuel Olanrewaju FYP Computer Science.
2nd Position: Kuti Oluwaseye Funmisho 200 Accounting.
3rd Position: Lawal Jelilat Adeyanju 200l Mass Communication.
MTN Contestant of the Moment: Emenike Daniel 400l Computer Science.

This initiative has been able to successfully catch the eye of companies and organizations like MTN Nigeria, Hayroyal Consult and Africa Student for Liberty of which are all youth friendly organizations with the major focus of supporting and celebrating youths with creative ideas and solutions to problems around them.

“This challenge which is created to serve as a platform for encouraging and motivating students to develop the ability to solve trivial world problems would go a long way in building a stronger aura that would boost the creative and innovative consciousness of their students.” He said

“The goal is to reach out to 20 schools before the end of 2018. Ajayi Crowther University is the first and we are looking forward to the next” he added.
