Noticing without obsessing

It's important for us to be mindful of our emotions throughout the day, but I think one thing that can occur with this is: obsession.
Sometimes I find myself Noticing my emotions go up and down throughout the day and begin to obsess on one particular emotion...rather than just feeling it and allowing it to pass.
Yes it's important to our health and wellbeing to be conscious of our emotions and sensations, but we have to keep in mind that an emotion is simply an emotion and does not need to be dissected every time one arises.
If the feeling is anxiety, simply notice it, relax your body, acknowledge the feeling as a reminder to be more present, and allow it to pass.
