Self Care

There is still so much Stigma around self care. Just so you know, self care is not selfish. Self care and being selfish are two very VERY different things. I still find it difficult to steer myself away from the stigma that surrounds self care. I feel guilty for taking care of my mental wellbeing, because all I can think about is how so many people are struggling with obstacles in their lives, while I'm over here relaxing.
Many of us have heard the saying, "you can't pour from an empty bucket". This could not be more true. In order to serve others, we must first serve ourselves.
I challenge you to create a self care plan for yourself for the entire month of August. Do at least one intentional self care Activity each day. This means, no stressing or worrying while you are enjoying the activity, the activity doesn't mean you have to be doing something...self care for you could mean saying no to plans, or meditating, or taking a nap. We typically entertain others and are there for others all day long; whether that means laughing at a not so funny joke, being a shoulder to cry on, or listening to other people's complaints. Make time for your self care every single day, even if it's just for 15 minutes.
