Must Have Best Alternatives of the Operating Systems You Have Already Installed

It’s a world worth exploring the world out there beyond the Operating Systems like Windows, macOS, Android and iOS. These four Big Operating system are built to be as useful to us as much. Many of us have very particular needs and would do better with something more simplified. Delightedly there as many programmers available around the world who have particular needs like us and need more options and features in Operating Systems. Sometimes these programmers create operating systems devoted to certain special devices like computer to smartphones, or another one intended just for gaming. Other times it needs to be refined version of what’s already available and they are to be tweaked.

There are the alternative Operating systems I recommend if you want to take more control of your devices like Computers, Smartphones etc. or to support open source software or just want journey with these four Big operating systems.

Pixel OS

We’ve heard so much about the benefits of installing Linux on different devices. There is a good place for beginners to start is the newly launched for Mac and Windows that is Pixel OS. It is a perfect choice for other laptops and desktops that are starting showing their age because it’s the tripped on, lightweight operating system originally built for simple Raspberry Pi.

Many benefits are applied to Pixel OS: simple setup, a good interface, a lot of free applications pre-loaded to get you up. And you will get as much collections of free software that are not available in windows or macOS and you will also get more secure Operating system because all the best apps are now web based these days. You can find Installation instruction for Pixel OS on the Raspberry Pi Blog for getting it up and running. You can run it from bootable DVD or USB stick but developers of Pixel OS are considering for creating installer in future.

Asteroid OS

For your information there’s also Asteroid OS for those who that Android Wear and watchOS are the only choices for your smartwatch and truth is that you are wrong.

Asteroid OS is an open source project started by a French student that runs on the LG G watch and various other Android Wear models. The Question is why you want an alternative smartwatch OS onto your Android Wear and LG G Watch because it is intuitive, more consistent then Google has managed and has a beautiful design. It comes with some handy apps such as weather widget, a music player and a calculator.

The downside is that it’s still at its alpha stage of its development, so not all of its features are working yet and you may across with some bugs while using it and it’s android app. You can flash it to your watch without getting rid of Android Wear.

Linage OS

A successor of CyanogenMod, Linage OS, an Android alternative smartphone OS for those who are looking for shiny, perfect experience that they can customize to accommodate themselves and for those who aren’t happy with whatever flavor of Android installed on their handsets to begin with.

For installing Linage OS on your device the process is the as it was with the CyanogenMod, just go to the download page, pick your device first then download the required files in order to flash the Linage OS on your phones. Even if you are not a programmer you can install it on your phone because you will get friendly with some Android Developer tools, you should be able to install your Linage OS without any trouble.

Linage OS is in its initial stage of popularity. It’s essentially a fully functional CyanogenMod with some components cut out and retain a lot of characteristics of CyanogenMod its predecessor.

Maru OS

Marus OS is working properly on Nexus 5 only, rather limited right now but for its ambitious and its potential it scores well. At its Base, it is a OS that run on your phone but you use it and get experience as a desktop.

Maru OS is not the only Operating System that come up with the Phone-Desktop Hybrid experience but it is the most interesting project in this scenario.Simply plug HDMI into your phone, connect keyboard and mouse and you have got lightweight desktop experience you can take it anywhere.

You can install Maru OS on Nexus 5 as you install other Android Rom.

Remix OS

Google is busy on making an option of running Android Apps on Chrome OS. But, Remix OS is the first of its kind who build for this option. It’s a desktop OS based on Android OS. So, you can run all of your android based apps on Remix OS. But use them in desktop based environment on the PC.

Consider the broadness of apps available in mobile phones, which are getting closer and closer to their desktop fellows. Many companies like Microsoft and Adobe have mobile apps that are more desktop friendly than ever.

Remix OS can also be used on old machine and repurpose them. The developers of Remix OS suggest minimum specification is of a 2.0GHz dual-core processor and 2GB of RAM but you can use it in less than that also. You run Remix OS straight from your hard disk partition or run it from a USB Disk. Which is the sensible option.

Zorin OS

We could cover the all manner of Linux distros here, there are penalty of them, like from privacy focused Tails to popular Linux Mint but Zorin OS based on Ubuntu is worth to be mentioned here because it has windows and macOS like look.

Zorin OS contains all the goodies available in Linux, it comes with beautiful interface, and has wine if want to come up with or running windows applications on Zorin OS. It is fully cutomisable as well if you want to make OS your own.

Core version of Zorin OS is available for free but there is a paying option as a Ultimate edition which gives you extra apps, games and functionality.
