The Town with a Forgotten Name

The soft Snow fell outside the Gas Station, covering the lonely clunker that was parked out front. It belonged to the girl behind the counter. She leaned on the counter, bored out of her mind. Her platinum blonde hair spilled around her shoulders, her eyeshadow a bright raspberry. She popped her bubble gum and dreamed of leaving.

Everyone seemed to leave as soon as they got there. Some were arrested, some were killed, some disappeared. Some simply moved away. All of her friends had run off as soon as they could drive, and she wished she could follow, but her car had enough gas mileage to get to the gas station and back to her home. Other than that, it was useless. She didn’t have a bike, and even if she did, she’d have to walk five miles out of Town before she got to use it. This run down town with a forgotten name is the only town for almost thirty miles, and it sits at the very bottom of the valley.

She scraped every penny she could for a car, but it wasn’t much. So instead she sat in the gas station, working overtime, and the shifts no one wanted. Only one customer came in that night, she rang him up without a word. He didn’t seem to mind, he didn’t try to talk to her. She reached for another piece of bubblegum, and she looked outside before popping it in her mouth. The man was bending over he windshield. She ran to the door, but he had gone in his place was a message written in the light snow.

We should talk.

She wiped the snow off the windshield. Living in this town gave you paranoia, and sometimes it was good to have it. She settled herself behind the counter and sighed. What if that had been the wrong choice? What if he could help her, and she just threw it away? All the hopes and dreams she had before the man came in, sank lower and her heart felt heavy. No one stays in the Valley for very long. No one, except her.

This is for the CWWC -2017, Final Challenge, Challenge 8. For Team Half-Blood. I used all three prompts for this challenge. Let’s be lost.
