The Worst Types Of People At The Gym

This is a Story that we all know too well. We go to the gym to workout, as well as find some solitude from our crazy lives, but some people threaten that peace. It also seems like it is always the same kinds of people. I have developed a list of the Worst Types of people that you can (and will) encounter at the gym. You can tell me if I am wrong, but I bet that you have faced at least one of these people.

1. The snob

My gym is one of the few that I know of that leaves out wipes for you to clean your machines after using them. It is a nice concept. I like that my gym encourages you to help keep it clean, and I always do my share. That did not stop that one crazy lady from being a total neat freak though. Let's call her Jane. Okay, so here is the story. I cleaned one of the machines after I was done using it and someone went on right after me. She was about to start working out when Jane came up to her and started talking. Not too long after the girl using the Machine got up to grab a wipe and cleaned the machine again. I was literally fuming. That was completely unnecessary. Since then, I always roll my eyes when I see Jane. I bet that I am not the only one either.

2. The person that uses a machine for too long

All gyms have at least of them: the person that spends too much time on a machine, especially weights. This is especially aggravating for me because I go to a small gym. Meaning that we have a limited amount of everything. We only have one of each weight machine, which makes it even more frustrating. I think that it is very rude to spend more than ten minutes on anything, considering that it is the only one there. These people never seem to get the message either. There is a sign on everything that even says, "Please allow other members to work in." Do you think these people actually follow that? Of course not.

3. The know-it-all

This is perhaps the most annoying person you will meet at a gym. The know-it-all likes to prance around like they own everything. However, that is almost never the case. Okay, so story time again. I was lifting weights when I noticed that this old lady was watching me. She had the audacity to tell me that I was doing it wrong. Meanwhile, my friend is a personal trainer and showed me how to use everything. My exact thoughts were, "Please, leave the personal training to my friend that actually knows what she is doing. You are only embarrassing yourself." I still stick to that a year later.

4. The Flirt

The flirt is someone that is more concerned with meeting someone than actually working out. Last time I checked, most people go the gym to exercise, not to get hit on. On behalf of all girls everywhere, we do not want you to chat us up when we do not look our best. That is also exactly why I go to an all girls' gym. It is a lot less pressure and I do not have to worry about people interrupting my workout. Trust me, you are better off going to the bar if you want to meet a new significant other. Someone had to say it.

5. Attention seeking girls

On the other hand, there are a select few of girls that do not mind the flirting. In fact, their main reason for going to the gym is to meet guys. They are not there to workout, and they make it so obvious. Their hair looks perfect, they have makeup on, and they are wearing a cute outfit. Let's face it, no one ever looks that good working out. I bet that they would really hit it off with some of the flirty guys that go.

6. The friends

This one is very short and simple. The friends are always next to each other on machines, chatting up a storm. I am glad that you have a buddy system going on, but I don't need to hear about that couple that should just break up already. Sometimes I do not even want to be there at all, and you guys make me want to leave even more.
