I had been hearing a lot of criticism on the new multiplayer, first-person shooter, Call of Duty: World at War. Many were complaining about the idea of going back to the Second World War theme. Consumers are saying that WWII games are redundant, and are too similar. I believe that this has a lot to do with the previous release from the Call of Duty series, which was COD4: Modern Warfare. COD4 was based on modern warfare where gamers were able to use modern guns and technology which is a lot different and fun from other previous war games that was set in WWI or WWII. The previous Call of Duty was such a good game that gamers got a bit spoiled and was skeptical on how any new up-coming title would compare, especially since the series was moving back to the old WWII settings.

I went ahead and bought the new COD5 and have not had any regrets from day one. First of all, Treyarch who is the developer of this new series is using the same graphic engine as in the previous version so the visuals are superb. The game play is about the same just with different weapons and perks to fit the WWII theme. One good thing about the COD series is the play back value it holds. Beating the campaign mode in this game is just getting you prepared for what’s ahead. You will be stuck on playing the multiplayer death matches live online. This will keep you happy until the next edition of COD.

However, in COD: World at War, when you beat the campaign, the game unlocks a Nazi Zombie game mode. This game mode is similar to the Horde mode in Gears of Wars 2. This game mode places you and/or three other players in a broken down house killing off dead Nazi Zombies who are trying to break in the house to kill you. The levels are endless as each time you kill off a certain amount of zombies, the stage level goes up and the zombies move quicker and are harder to kill. I believe this is a great edition to what is already a great game which seals the deal for a terrific bang for your buck video game.

Have you seen those Amber Alert sign on freeway saying “No text messaging while driving.  Effective Jan 1.”  I drive all over the place in Southern California and saw these signs and wonder if they are going to pass another law like the Cellular Phone law.

Text messaging has grown phenomenally these past few years.  With the recent no talking on cell while driving California law passed, another no text messaging law going to be in effect soon in California.  The new No-text California law goes into effect on January 1, 2009.  The law is basically simple, text messaging on a text-based communication device while driving will be against the law for all drivers in California.  The violation also apply to reading and sending a message (email and so on) on a text-based communication device.

All violators are fine the same amount as the cellular phone law.  The fines are $20.00 (plus court fees) for the first offense and $50.00 (plus court fees) for the subsequent offense.  If they see that this has been a frequent violation they can boost up the fines to triple the amount.

Tek Thoughts:  It’s a good law to go into effect, .  I’ve seen many drivers whom are a been more careless driving while talking on the cellphone.  I dodge a couple of driver because they miss blind spots while changing lanes and so on.  As I pass them up, I see that they’re on their cellular phones and less attentive on the road.  These are careless accidents waiting to happen.

Make it an official New Years resolution to not text or talk on the without a headset device.  Happy New Years everyone!!!

A gift is something to be thankful for …but sometimes you receive those gifts that are just ‘eehhhh bad.  Here is my top five picks of bad Christmas presents.  Lets start with #5 being the least worse and #1 is the worse of them all.

#5.  Hickory Sausages & Cheese - Don’t get me wrong, I love hickory sausages and cheese.  The packaging just looks too good to eat.  Spend money else where.

#4.  Personalized Mug - Not to bad of a gift if it had picture of you on it but instead of your Aunt Kelly or Uncle John.

#3.  Someone else’ hand me down Chocolate - Chocolate is not a bad gift (I have a big sweet tooth) but when the person who gives you the gift, forgets to take off the “To” and “From” tag. -Meaning, someone else gave them the chocolate but they did no’t want it so they past it on to you.

#2.  Chia pet - Rather spend that close to $20.00 on other plants or even the Chia Herb which you than can grow and eat.  (FYI:  Do you ever wonder that type of plant Chia Pet is?  Chia is actually a type of plant.)

#1.  Fruit Cake - Do people still gives these out?  I tired them once and they’re not my kind of cakes.

So what makes a good Christmas gift.  First of the all, remember to put a heart warming Christmas card with the gift, just remember to leave an extra message besides what comes on the card.   If you’re on budget, make your own Christmas and that’s even more thoughtful.  Even making your own Christmas gifts are great gift.  Even though they sometimes don’t come out 100% perfect, it’s still super thoughtful.  My thoughts are if someone put out the time in making a gift, it’s worth more than that expensive stuff.  Time as we know is precious.  Something to think about.

Gifts that are useful and not sit to collect dust are always a plus for me,  unless it’s a nice vase or picture frame.  Then, you can put more pictures around that house and flowers as well.

Other useful gifts can be like buying R1 Concepts brakes for that special someones’ car.  You’ll save them money in buy brake when they need it and plus it’s R1 Concepts brake products.  Not only you will save them money but also time, because when the brakes are up they can have it changed right away.  With R1 Concepts performance products they will get better braking.  Better braking means you care.

These are my five top worse picks whats yours?  Happy Holidays everyone!!!
