Role Models, I loved the trailers and previews from the commercials. So I had to see this movie. Finally had the time to go out and see it last night. This movie didn’t just have laughs but it’s one of those “feel good” movies. It was also good to see Seann William Scott back as he played Wheeler in this movie. We haven’t seen him for a while.

Here is a short description of this movie. Danny Donahue (Paul Rudd) and Wheeler works for a energy drink company for 10 years. All they do is go around schools to tell kids stay off drugs and drink these energy drinks instead. Danny is the speaker and Wheeler wears this Minotaur custom and all he says is “Taste the Beast!” Danny is going through a crisis where he feels he is going no where in his life. He begins to hate the world and everything around him. He thought it was time for a change so he ask his lawyer girlfriend (Elizabeth Banks), to marry him but gets turned down because Danny has become a big Dick (excuse my language).

Danny felt it couldn’t get any worse for him. But it did and he just snaps. He drives his truck onto this schools statue of a horse and almost kills a cop. For that, Danny and Wheeler gets arrested. They either have to do hard time for 30 days or 150 hours of community service. They chose to do community service so that takes them to a place called “Sturdy Wings,” which is a menotring program for kids. Danny gets this 16 year old boy, Augie Farks (Christopher Mintz-Plasse), a nerd who life revolves around this fantasy medevil times role playing game. Wheeler gets Ronnie ( Bobb’e J. Thompson) an 11 year old boy who has a bad mouth and loves boobies. They come to realize that jail isn’t half bad when they first meet these boys and the woman in charge of this place, Sweeny (Jane Lynch). Danny and Wheeler are learning from these boys as well.I’ll end it here incase you haven’t watched it but it just keeps getting funnier and funnier.

Martin’s Review:

Wheeler and Ronnie together is just a perfect combination for big laughs. Ronnie says the funniest stuff and Wheeler does the dumbest things. “I don’t want to take my clothes off!” That part was so funny when Ronnie said that. Not a bad story and I walked out of there feeling good. I needed a good laugh.

Should you go watch this movie?  Yes, if you want good laughs its worth to go watch it.

If I would to describe the new Audi R8  supercar in one word, it would be sexy“. The Audi R8 does not look like any other sports car but rather a unique piece of art. Maybe it’s the relatively scarce mid-engine all-wheel-drive, or simply because of the exotic, sexy, low key design. Whatever it is, the Audi R8 is a beautiful but pricey beast.

If you are looking for a car that stands out from the rest, this is the sports car for you. However, if you are looking for a sports car that is affordable, go ahead and cross out the R8 right off that wish list. With an MSRP starting at $114,200 which is about tens of thousands of dollars more then other high performance cars such as the BMW M3, Corvette Z06 and the Nissan GT-R.

Even if paying for the R8’s higher cost, the Audi R8 falls a bit short in performance compare to the GT-R and the Z06. However the R8 is equipped with one of the world’s favorite choice of engine, the 4.2 L FSI v8. The engine produces 420hp at 7800rpm and 320tq at 4500rpm which makes the R8 a true high-reving motor with 100hp per liter. Many drivers have said, in comparison to the GT-R, the R8 is slower in performance but felt a bit more rewarding getting there. Well, it better be considering that the R8 is based on the exclusive Lamborghini Gallardo. I guess the price tag seems a bit more reasonable.

Going with the traditional manual transmission would be the best decision you will make for this car. Considering this is a high revving motor,  having full control of the power band is a neccessity. Consumers test shows that the optional automated manual R tronic transmission sucks too much joy out  of the driving experience, creating delayed, clunky upshifts.

Peformance figures for the manual transmission is 0-60 in 4.2 seconds, with quarter-mile in 12.7 seconds at 111mph. The R tronic model gets 0-60 in 4.6 and 12.8 seconds at 108.4 mph. Fuel economy estimates at 13mpg city/ 20 highway for the manual transmission while the automatic gets 19mpg for highway. In the end, the 2009 Audi R8 is a true supercar that can be driven every day. However, if falls short of being a top 5 and the price is a bit steep.

I’m a fan of Michael Cera who plays Nick and a very big fan of Kat Dennings who plays Norah. Reason why I’m a big fan is because these 2 actor and actress play roles of their real personality. No matter what movies they are in, they always play themselves sort to say. Also I think Kat Dennings is so cute (sorry I had to admit it). I became a fan of hers when I watched The 40 Year Old Virgin. After watching Nick & Norah, I became a bigger fan of hers.

I don’t want to kill the movie incase you haven’t seen it. But the whole movie takes place in one night in Lower East Side Manhattan. Nick plays in a band with 2 of his gay friends Thom (Aaron Yoo) and Dev (Rafi Gavron). Nick still has high hopes of getting back with his ex-girlfriend Tris (Alexis Dziena) but she was cheating on him while they were together which Nick doesn’t know. Nick sends Tris mix tapes which Tris just throws away but Norah picks them up and listens to them. She doesn’t know who this Nick is but from the mix tapes she feels like he is her “musical soul mate.”

Nick and Norah hooks up in a club where Nick and his band played. Then the adventure starts from there and throughout the night. Tris started to get jealous seeing Nick with her friend Norah. They go around the city looking for a secret concert where a band name Where’s Fluffy will be playing. Throughout the movie there were some funny moments from Norah’s drunk friend Caroline (Ari Graynor), Nicks gay band friends, and his yellow Yugo. She gets lost so now Nick, Nora, and his band have to find her and find the band Where’s Fluffy as well. There’s also a secret about Norah… I won’t tell you what it is. I will end it here so you can go watch it yourself.

Martin’s Review:

I’m not a big fan of date movies, but this one was good because of the funny moments and many scenes you can relate to. It’s a simple story but gives you a good feeling when you walk out of the theaters. I also just came back from New York so it was cool seeing many of the buildings, clubs, and streets of New York. This movie just reminds you all the good times you had when you were younger hanging out with your friends and how one night can change the way you see life. This movie was based off a book which I never read, but be sure to check it out as well.  I’m happy to announce that R1 Concepts do sell brake rotors and pads for the Yugo!

Michael and Kat look good and played good as a couple. They have good chemistry in this movie. I’m happy that Kat Dennings finally got one of the main roles in a movie. I hope this will open up more doors for her.

Martin’s Grade: B

Should you watch this in theaters? Yes

A friend shared some good investment advise today, so I figured I share it with you…

If you had bought $1,000.00 of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00.

With Enron, you would have $16.50 of the original $1,000.00.

With MCI/Worldcom, you would have less than $5.00 left.

If you had bought $1,000.00 worth of Miller Genuine Draft (the beer, not the stock) one year ago, drunk all the beer then turned in the cans for the 10-cent deposit, you would have $214.00.
